Hey all.
My recently bought '69 Cuda has a big 'ol stereo system in it that could be nice if I could figure it out.
The PO put a Pioneer head unit in the dash with a 20 disk CD changer in the trunk. A pair of 16" subs, a couple of 6x9's in the back and a couple of 6" rounds in the doors. Backed this all up with what I am guessing is amps and what-not.
The wiring is an "ok" job.
But none of the amps and such are bolted down. I have no clue what needs securing, better wiring, or tossed out and replaced.
Add to that all the stereo shops in my area are closed for the time being.
Attached is pictures.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That coustic amp is very good quality. It was top tier back in the 90's and is still a decent amp. I would chuck the cd changer, they never worked very good even when they were new. Dont fool yourself, that is a horrible installation and wiring job. I would yank it all out and start from scratch. Those amps need air flow across them, wont last long covered up like that.
So looks like there are two coustic amps, a crossover(white box) and an EQ.
Im curious, just how many ground wires can you put on a trunk latch?

You think those grounds are interesting? Here's a picture of the grounds I found on my '82 Imperial! :D

I'm sorry, I don't get that whole audio thing. You have a fastback with the drop down pass-thru door, and you are wasting all that space and convenience by blocking the door with all that junk.
That sub woofer looks dangerous if you were in an accident, maybe even a panic stop situation. Years ago, a Seattle Seahawk player was paralyzed by a subwoofer flying forward in an accident, and breaking his neck.
Why don't you mount the guts on either side of the dropped down door, or maybe in the spare tire well, so as not to negate the pass thru feature.

I would take it all out, & verify how it's all hooked up. Reinstall with all pieces secured to a removable base with quick connect type wiring & wired where it is pleasing to the eye. A lot of professional installers are probably having nightmares over those pictures. Just be sure that all of the wiring is at least adequate to hand the amperage & that everything is grounded properly. Do not cheap out on the wiring, you will regret it.

I would pull all that out, get model numbers off everything and Google the manuals.
Then put back what I wanted to keep with cleaner wiring.

That is a hack job install of the highest order.

To me, a big part of the charm of a fastback Barracuda is the whole rear seat fold down to trunk pass through. Do you really want to make that entire section useless so you can have a loud stereo?

Seems a bit much.
Bluetooth Pioneer stereo, no cd, marine antenna, it's basically just a wire hidden under the dash, 6x9s in old school home stereo boxes in the back, kept the quick connects.
The Pioneer has plenty of power, no cds, simple wiring, no worries.
