I think people often forget they are factory production cars that have 100k mile warranty and a regular radial tire with every safety feature including air bags, all the creature comforts and get 28-30 mpg while clicking off 12 second time slips (or faster) at over 4k pounds. Those that tromp them out of the hole usually have good gears, high stall converters, drag radial or pure slick tires, traction aiding devices, and basically a car that's set up to 60 ft. But try beating them out of the hole with a factory 340 Duster, or 440 GTX in factory restored condition on regular radials.
