scoop install on 72 demon

so i have an uncut hood and a very nice oem dual snorkle hood scoop, iv e done this before with a repop scoop and the studs didnt line up quite right with holes in hood bracing, any tips on doing this job properly, like figuring where to drill holes?
 
i would do a paper or cardboard pattern that i could place on the underside of the hood to see how the scoop studs line up first
