Goal is to outrun these guys in their Chargers and the like in this old van, not Hellcats obviously but the majority that I see running around like hot shots! Dying to give the old “shoo” or “bye-bye” hand gesture to one of em
whatever... you posted 45 times what your car does, I was only interested in a Scat with drag radials. Re-read all my post, it's all I kept asking. Ride happy and free my good friendI know so you could say a-ha that's why..
I think 12many has an awesome van and as I recall it's even faster than my car so I have no doubt he can handle most challengers and chargers at the track. Again it's hard to road Race somebody at speed that has an 8 speed transmission... Especially against a 3-speed...
you can do it, but in my opinion you'll need speed of about 116 mph in the 1/4 to do it to a stock Scat that's '15 or newer. And any more than the 1/4 watch out. They'll do between 170 and 180 mphGoal is to outrun these guys in their Chargers and the like in this old van, not Hellcats obviously but the majority that I see running around like hot shots! Yup, I’ve got no hallucinations of going that fast in this thing!!you can do it, but in my opinion you'll need speed of about 116 mph in the 1/4 to do it to a stock Scat that's '15 or newer. And any more than the 1/4 watch out. They'll do between 170 and 180 mph
I have the same goal with our '80 dodge d150 LOL. I want to go from a roll and leave my son's Scat. Not in spite or anything, but just as a measuring stick. He loves old school cars as well as I love the new challengers. Just all in funGoal is to outrun these guys
Only good run I have on video here, but best(s) to date were few 11.81@112 +/- last November but haven’t been to track since.Ok, I want to know more about this van ! lol

The fastest car does not always win, the quickest does. I have no problem running the new stuff. The supercharged/turbo stuff is a different game 50/50 if they can get their car to hook. The 5.0 are the faster of the big 3 IMO.they sure finish hard on the big end... LOL. Their MPH is always high for the ET
yes, and starting with traction. once both cars hook up without wheel spin, then it starts with the 60 ft, then 330 and as we both know, the quickest car wins. Challengers/Chargers are tough to hook up in too. I drove a SS 426 hp LS 6 speed manual, and that thing bit like a crocodile. I'll have to disagree on the 5.0 being the fastest, though...The fastest car does not always win, the quickest does. I have no problem running the new stuff. I think people often forget they are factory production cars that have 100k mile warranty and a regular radial tire with every safety feature including air bags, all the creature comforts and get 28-30 mpg while clicking off 12 second time slips (or faster) at over 4k pounds. Those that tromp them out of the hole usually have good gears, high stall converters, drag radial or pure slick tires, traction aiding devices, and basically a car that's set up to 60 ft. But try beating them out of the hole with a factory 340 Duster, or 440 GTX in factory restored condition on regular radials.Me too. Most of the time, I'll leave them at the starting line, like they're chained to the guardrail.
The new iron is cool.. they have their place, on the roads, they're not drag cars. (I'll probably take heat for saying that..)

I’ve seen guys running stock tires (which I’ve outrun) and then there are the guys where I can see they are running some type of drag radials. Those guys, from what I’ve seen, hook hard. Those are the ones where I’m seeing them clicking off mid 11’s at 116-118 IIRC. Last time at The Rock I lined up against a few Chargers and left them in my mirrors, then the next few rounds in staging guys waved me on so I ran a solo. Either some didn’t want to be smoked by an old heap or they only care to run against similar. Might be a little of bothThere are several stock A8 scat packs that run low 12’s on stock tires at my local track. One in particular runs 12.0’s. The newer cars are pretty easy to launch as they have traction and launch control built in.

If they are running mid 11's, they aren't stock Scats. Even with Drag Radials, high 11's would be a tough run if they are stock. By the way, what's the van weigh?I’ve seen guys running stock tires (which I’ve outrun) and then there are the guys where I can see they are running some type of drag radials. That’s what the intent of my post was about, trying to determine what are stock typical times (with or without traction, drag radials etc) vs souped up ones. I’m thinking I’m looking to give the souped up cars a run!! The chance to actually best one here and there (up to my self imposed cutoff point...drum brakes, feet and legs up against thin sheet metal and all aside) would be satisfying, gratifying....a thrillIf they are running mid 11's, they aren't stock Scats. Your at 11.8's, so you really shouldn't lose to a stock Scat regardless of their tires. But, these guys tinker with these like we tinker with ours.. 1 undisputable fact you didn't run your credit card and instantly have an old-school 11.7 van... I would bet 8 out of 10 those challengers and chargers your racing are still on a payment plan...I’ve seen guys running stock tires (which I’ve outrun) and then there are the guys where I can see they are running some type of drag radials. They all sound the same to me.
Great post, all of it.I see the new cars as the future of racing. Scat pack is the 340 Abody, Hellcat is the Big block GTX. In Orlando the street cars running TNT pay the bills. I see nothing wrong with someone buying a new car and running it hard at the track. Most here did exactly that 50 years ago.
