We bought an LG top load hi efficiency washer & it works well. It takes longer to wash than an old style and it is more sensitive to loading evenly, but it spins so fast that the clothes take no time to dry. The only issue is that the tub is so deep, my wife has a hard time reaching the bottom. I would not go back to the old agitator style. Lots of electronics though.

We also bought the LG hi efficiency dryer. Bought it off the clearance rack cheap with a dent or two. I took it apart to straighten out the dents & discovered the guts of a hi efficiency dryer are exactly the same as an old dryer. Only difference is all the electronics & double the price. If you don’t use all the electronic crap they are a waste of money.

I would buy an LG again. You can save a lot of money if you are a cheapskate like me and buy scratch & dent. Mine don’t match (don’t care it’s just a washer, not a fashion statement). That allows a little more room for scratch & dent shopping.

We purchased an LG top loader about 3 years ago and it has been a POS from the start. Had service come out 2x for repairs. Worked well for a few months and then same imbalance problems. Don't know why but we didn't get the longer warranty and now we are stuck with a $700 clothes wetter. We have tried loading it
in every way possible and nothing seems to work. I can't even sell it. My wife is going to bash it into little pieces one day. Sure I'll pretend to be mad but deep down I will enjoy the show. I would avoid LG and avoid top loaders and get one with an agitator.

edit....avoid top loaders WITHOUT agitator.
