Is it possible to disassemble the impact absorber and remove the internal spring, oil and valve? Then collapse it and weld or put some screws in it at the desired lenght?

Are you talking about the shock absorbers?

Is you intent to have a way to fix a ride height to see what it will look like?

The only thing I’d ever want to do the ones on my 75 is restore them and put them back in good working order. The two on the rear bumper saved my car from catastrophic damage back in the 80’s.

I assume this is to pull the bumpers in and make it a tighter fit. I guess you could collapse them and tack weld to hold where you want. Sounds like a lot of work and if you want to move the bumpers in maybe make some brackets of your own.

Just be careful drilling the absorbers, a friend accidentally drilled one on a BMW. It had quite a bit of pressure & shot oil into his face, luckily he was smart enough to be wearing safety glasses.
