Hi everyone out there in Mopar land. I need some help with my1966 Barracuda restoration. I am restoring a 1966 Barracuda Formula S number matching 4 speed beauty. Can anyone tell me if any 1966 Barracudas came with no lettering on trunk lid. The 1966 factory broacher of the car shows pictures of car with no PLYMOUTH lettering on trunk lid. The trunk lid that was on car when I purchased it had no lettering. Is it possible that some early 1966 Barracudas came without lettering.
Thanks

Never heard of a car with no "Plymouth" lettering on the trunk or hood! Car companies were/are not in the market not to advertise their cars to anyone who wants to look, and I'm doubting whether they would leave their own name off the car, and pull a trunk lid off the line that hasn't been drilled! Never say never tho, if it ain't drilled, it ain't drilled, and we may never know why!!

x2, but......maybe your car was the one used for the brouchure!!!

Mine had the previous owner cover the holes. I ended up cutting the studs of some lettering and used 3m double sided to attach them back on. So I can go back to no lettering if I ever want to.

When I had my 66 Barracuda (Canadian car) I believe it had Valiant letters on the trunk, is your Barracuda a Canadian or US built car?

Good day,

While not in pristine shape I do have an early date coded unmolested US 66 Formula S w/trunk letters. Pretty sure the Canadian version did not have letters as Tonto7 mentioned or as pictured in your literature.

I'm working on an early production '66 US built Barracuda and it has lettering on both hood and trunk. The odd? thing is that it does not have a barracuda fish on it anywhere. Grille and lower back window trim have the red/blue "V" instead.

That’s because it’s an early build car. I had a November built car that had the V, and my current Cuda is a February build and it has the fish!

@cosgig - Thank you for the confirmation regarding the build months and the related production differences.
@rpochrecords - It's clear form the responses that there were build variations between factories in the US and differences between factories in different countries. You are likely stuck confirming if your trunk has no holes or filled holes and restoring accordingly.
