Valvoline VR-1 vs. Lucas Hot Rod oil

What does that have to do with oil in a motor. It all works in the right temperature range. I can Guarantee None of my motors ever were hurt by running 20w50 or 30 oil. You are overthinking everything.

Viscosity and flow don't really matter in the real world. I have never had a problem with oil up to 20w50 and SAE 30. No wear at all, over decades and 250,000 miles. And some of those vehicles were modern designs claiming I had to use light oils. Nothing gets babied in my garage. Isky will not warranty their flat tappet cams if you use light oil. You can use whatever you want. I would be a fool to change what I am doing. Use good oil, use a good filter, keep it full, and change it.
Same here have always ran 30 straight oil in my 360 and the loved/hated 292 mopar cam. Never a problem. Got this oil weight idea from my dad he always ran this weight in his 1976 ramcharger 318 this engine still runs like when it was new!! 250,000++ miles never been apart still factory rings bearings cam rockers, everything except valve seals!! We are believers in this single weight oil.

The only reason I run 20-50 is 30 yrs of using it with no bearing failures. Bearing always look good when torn down. Not saying its right just not changing what has worked for years.

It was good then and good now.
20/50 was the recommended weight oil for performance engines.
Even said so in Ma Mopar's diaries. lol
I use 20/50 in all my old Mopar's.
Never ever a failure, ever. I still have a 383 under the bench that was spun 7500 on a regular basis in the early 80's. I could probably get it running and spin it a few more times. lol
