My Dart Swinger Project!

-
I'm going to have to catch up on your videos. I subed to your channel so should get the alerts. Glad to see you at it.
Thanks Stephen! I plan on doing alot more videos now to document my progress. Its alot easier for me to explain and ask questions thru talking rather than typing lol plus years from now it will give me something to look back on and remember the build.

Are you putting some seam sealer on the seam underneath? If not, it'd be a good idea.

Great progress btw! Keep it up!
Here are some pics of the seams. I got them sealed on the top and the bottom.

Dartfreak my man you are doing great, not to often I see seat of the pants engineering move so quickly. The piece sign in the tire well a nice touch! Your welds are getting better every time you pick up the mig torch.

I have a friend that used a wiper motor and arm assembly to move his motorcycle gas tank back and forth on drawer slides to clean his tank, maybe this could work for you?

Peace out Man…..
When I did my motorcycle tank I sealed it up with tank cleaner and 1/4" bolts and nuts. Then I put it inside heavy duty plastic, packing taped that up, then wrapped it all up in a ball of blankets, taped that up then put it in the clothes dryer on no-heat for about 2 hours. It was sort of noisy but not too bad, no dents, no dryer damage. Not sure Kevin can do this with his tank though. Maybe the laundr-o-mat lol

Haha thats a pretty inventive idea I wouldn't have thought of that lol my homemade tumbler worked pretty good. Its clean enough for me I let it soak in some pine sole. And I'm gonna wash it out with dawn. Good to go!

The rear is down I'm waiting on my new cover gasket, and I gotta paint the cover. The axles are in the brakes are done. I gonna paint the calipers and put them on and it the rear in the car!

You may want to quirt some paint on the rotors too (everything but the brake surface obviously). If they're bare, they'll get crusty in no time.

Ok got the steering column took apart got the shaft extended for the manual box, got the floor pans primed and the back half of the under carriage primered my paint gun doesn't spray very good upside down so it's not covered the best. But it's not bare anymore. I'm thinking about leaving the underside the red primer. Idk yet what do yall think paint it black or leave it red? The body color is burnt orange so the red may look similar to the body color if you happen to glance under lol

I'm calling it quits for the day it's dark out. I got the gas tank out back together and got it out back in the car. I gotta say it feels really good to be putting it back together instead of taking it apart. I gotta work this next 5 days hopefully on my next days off I can be as productive as I was today. Next up getting the fuel lines in and the rearend installed. I test fitted my shock plates and ubolts I'm gonna have to drill the holes out a little the bolts are a little to big. I got the size that 8.8s call for I guess they are bigger in dia than. 8.75 ubolts oh well at least it will be strong

When I redid my truck I painted the whole rotor I figured the pads would wear the paint off with no problems lol I'm sure it will burn it off pretty quickly

It's funny you mention the peace sign.. that was a complete accident lol I cut the metal out of an old hood and that is the overspray on the bottom around the Braces. I told my wife how cool is that it looks like a peace sign she said ... "it looks like a chicken foot to me"! Haha

Take some lacquer thinner on a shop rag in the morning and wipe the paint off the brake faces on the rotors.

That paint will imbed into your break pads and gum them up.

To late now. I done drove it like that lol they are new pads so I'm sure they will wear down and the gum will wear with it. If it's an issue I will replace them
