Last engine I sprayed painted I used PlastiKote Chrysler Orange 226. I loved how bright the orange was. I can't find it anywhere. If anyone knows a source please let me know.
What your favorite Hemi Orange spraypaint!

There's Street Hemi and Race hemi orange........and everybody's "versions" in between, so be careful. Street Hemi orange has more red while Race Hemi orange has more yellow.

As per the linked post, 226 is discontinued. I ended up trying Por 15 engine paint, and hated it. Now I have used VHT and like working with it better, but it does not have the metallic of something like the Dupli-Color.

Last hemi spray paint I used was chrysler race hemi orange , straight from a chrysler / plymouth dealer !
It was chalkyer colored than street hemi orange ----------

Bill Hirsch Engine Enamel
Engine Enamel Paint | High Temp Engine Enamel | Hirsch Auto
The valve covers are painted with Mopar Performance Street Hemi Orange from an aerosol can.
The rest of the engine is the Hirsch enamel shot with a spray gun.

I agree with the POR-15 engine paint it was horrible.

Dont use Dupli-Color I used it on my 512 and it was pure crap.
Did not cover well
Not resistant to gasoline or any kind of solvents
Cheap junk from Oriely's

Mancinni Racing also carries both oranges.
P4120751AB. Early Hemi orange, light orange in color, yellowish? The other almost looks chevy.

Original hemi oranges were not shiny either !

Just painted my short block with the early hemi orange, I like it. It's not a high gloss, but it's not flat by any means, it has a low shine I would say. Perfect.

@abodyjoe

Joe had some paint mixed up from Upol??? Had a thread. I used it on one engine as well. looked good, lost can and contact info along with the formula.

Depending on the paint brand, Chevy orange is almost exactly the same as Chrysler orange. Remember that it is paint and with paint, prep is everything.

if you want the accepted most "correct" then use the stuff from Bill Hirsch...

if you are using spray cans then they are all over the place color wise. even tho mopar performance stuff isn't the correct color...

i use a high solids paint over epoxy primer applied with a paint gun and it not only looks great it holds up incredibly well...

Like I said, original hemi orange did not have a shine to it -------------

like i said, if you want "correct" then go with the Bill Hirsch stuff.. if you want orange that looks great and doesn't have to be 100% "correct" then use one of the other methods. being the op was asking about PlastiKote i have to assume he isn't worried about 100% "correct". original paint had orange peel too, body had poor gaps and people improve on those so why not improve on how the engine looks.. :)

I was reffering to engine paint only , it was in existance before the body paint .

i know what you were referring to. like i said the OP is asking about PlastiKote so i doubt he is worried about 100% correct. so give it a gloss make it look good like guys make the outside of the car look good.

RUST-OLEUM #248957 Chrysler Hemi Orange works well for me

Same deal as "correct" b5 blue in 1970. Had an original paint 70 Duster car from one factory and another RR from a different and guess what... they weren't the same tone... so correct is nothing but a wishy washy term as the mix could be slightly different. Even had one of the gurus say the Duster was a repaint and not correct... ummmm yeah.. not right but OK.

I must be the only guy here who likes the POR-15 engine paint.

I like the Bill Hirsch stuff, too.

Nothing I own deserves fresh paint anywho....
