Lift placement

I also need to get two plugs. One for my 220 source and one for the pump motor for the lift. I was thinking of using the twist lock connectors

having lifted a few of those when I worked at the dealer. I would place my lift so I couldn't lift one ever again.....
even with our 10000lb lifts those things were scary in the air almost never stopped rocking without a screw jack at each end.

LOL yep. Thats why I was recommending the symmetrical lift!

Oh I know. I used to work at a dealer that serviced most makes and models. It’ll definitely make you pay attention that’s for sure

My Toyota pickup mocked up in the lift. Truck is 16.5 feet long. I will probably end up moving the lift columns 3 inches closer towards the door. That will put the base of the lift 6 inches from my control joint. With the way the truck is parked now I have 3 feet from the rear of the truck and my door seal on the concrete. And 47 inches from the front of the truck to the forward wall

Here's mine. Pic is from about a year and a half ago when my garage was just finished. The lift is far enough toward the back wall where I can pull another car behind it while still having room for a workbench and tool boxes in front. It was installed far enough away from the outside wall to have enough room to stand there and operate it, ensure whatever vehicle is on it won't hit the ceiling and also to be able to open a door and/or pull an axle on the passenger side. There is enough room on the left side to pull a car next to it but it's a little tight getting in and out.

The post on my lift near the side wall is 3ft from it. I hope that’s far enough

Hey guys. I’m out in the shop today going over the lift and everything it came with. One of the supplied anchors appears to have corrosion on it. Should I be concerned?

So that’s going to be tough with only 23’ depth. Plus, it’s kind of sketchy to lift a vehicle that long on an asymmetrical lift. You might want to rethink a symmetrical lift. You can use it like an asymmetrical lift but have the ability to place the vehicle offset on the lift and lift it up backwards. You really need a lot of room in front of a vehicle to lift it facing forward and at that point, you might as well have got a symmetrical lift. My lift is an Atlas symmetrical 10K extra wide and extra tall. The top of my posts are 12’8” and I mounted it 10’10” from the back wall to the center of the posts. My shop is 28’x40’ and roughly 14’ at the center for reference. I lift my CCSB Sierra 2500HD on it all the time without issue. I will say there is some bounce to the rear end of the truck when it’s up in the air and I imagine it would be a LOT worse on an asymmetrical lift. You’d definitely want to put a tall jack stand on the rear of the truck with an asymmetrical lift.

when you installed your atlas 10k lift did you use the supplied concrete anchors? If so what did you torque them to? An atlas rep told me 75-86ft.lbs (the instructions that came with the lift don’t say).

That's probably it. If you go to get it, check the strength vs a Red Head brand. They usually have both kinds, and the Red Heads are a popular anchor.

my local Lowe’s carries red head. Would replacing just the one be an issue? The torque spec on the anchors are different.
