so I drove the duster out to the store the other day and as I'm walking back out, I am walking many 20 feet behind this couple
just far enough to be able to make out half of the conversation

as luck would have it, they walked past the duster, and then took a sharp left around it to get to their car

I can see them looking at it, and I hear him say something, but im too far off to hear what he said

whatever he said, I could hear her reply loud and clear
she said "its a duster"

the guy just stops, looks at her and goes "how could you possibly know that?"

and she, with her chipper little voice, goes, "says so on the front"

that made my day

looks good with the 69' grill. how much work was it to get that installed?

I love that color Combo

thanks
one of the previous owners redid it and painted it that color
i think it is EV2, or close to it
i got in one day, put on my seat belt and thought "now why in the world did they put green seat belts in an orange car?"
turns out, the car was born green

very little
i think i had to trim the headlight buckets a little to make them mate properly
but it was pretty much a bolt on deal

(it took longer to get the grille taped off and painted then it did to get it installed)

i always felt like this grille made a better overall picture, the way it seems to match the tail lights

Freakin amazing! The car s have make and model in them and people still say, “I wonder what it is?!”
I have shown so many people at car shows this simple fact when my Duster gets called something else or the simple question is asked, which I like the latter better to be honest. Because it is an honest question by a non car lover. But likes what they see enough to ask.

Mine has "PLYMOUTH" on the rear bumper,

"Satellite" on both quarters, close to eye level,

and a front plate that says "1973".

...and I still get asked all three questions very regularly.

People...

I hear stuff like that with my car in parking lots all the time too.:D

I gotta tell you a funny one that happened one day here recently.
I pulled up to a stop light intersection on a red intending to go straight and there was a car on my left in the left turn lane.
As I pulled up this kid about 10 or so looks over out of his all the way down passenger window.
There was an older woman (Mom I guess) driving.
This kids jumps half way out the open window and yells (quoting here) "HOLY S**T, THAT'S THE BADDEST F'n CAR I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!"

Mom reached over and slapped him on the *** since he was up to his waist hanging out the window and I was cracking up laughing and told him thanks.
He stared until they were a block away.
Some of my favorite responses come from kids.:D

that is really cool

i do love the way kids react to the duster
a lot of times, if i catch their eye on time i'll drop it in neutral and rattle a few windows

I was driving my Dart. and do the same thing for kids.
I ignore all the adults making the spin the tires motion except to wave at them.:D

no kidding
apart from the safety issues, I just forked out nearly 400 bucks for a new set orlf rear tires...i ain't smoking them for some old geezer trying to live vicariously
now, if she's of the female persuasion, I might give it a little chirp

Did the burnout last that entire block, or did he lose sight through the smoke?

None of the above in that case.
The only time I have done a serious burnout with the 3.55 sure grip was when some guy in a white late model Challenger decided he was going to get as close to my rear bumper as he could.
I have a bumper sticker that says "Back Off Bumper Humper" and some people take it as a challenge to how close they can get without actually making contact.

This Challenger guy was inching closer and closer as we sat at the light.
I set my line lock and when the light turned green I layed into it hard and put a big black strip of burned rubber up the front end of his new white Challenger.

Bet he was kinda pissed when he got home and saw that.
I could see it in the mirror as I pulled away, so I know it was pretty obvious.

Did you put the new tires on your slot mags or another set of rims? I love them slot mags, I used to have 14x10's like that on a coronet.

the top picture is with N50s on 14x10s
the new tires are 275/60-15s on 15x8 slots

(I actually had swapped the N50s back on last fall, hoping to find a black Friday deal on a set of nitto 555s, but never did...so I finally broke down and just bought a set outright)

I always feel kinda bad when I take the N50s off, no other tire looks right

maybe next winter I can tub it, shorten the rear end and fit some N50 size tires under the fender

I bought a '54 Triumph TR2 roadster years ago...hauled it on a tow dolly. Two guys at a gas station asked me about my Studebaker!!!!

I'm guessing you didn't use a stude to tow the triumph, did you?
