In reality, nothing needs to be level. Your simply measuring the DIFFERENCE between the perches and the pinion yoke. Leveling the perches simply makes the math easier.
If he wants to compare to the original (and he said he did) He'd need the perches dead level to measure the pinion angle.......but he's makin this way too hard. 5* pinion up (down doing it like Cass said) and he's spot on. That's the right way to do it and too many people have muddied the waters on this thread and made him scared.
