I just wonder:
1: what's a good size sparkplugs gap with MSD coil & box installed?
2: also what Champion plugs suits the best?

It's a daily driver & I don't wanna be stranded...

Here's what msd recommends on gaps

Spark plugs depend on engine and configuration.
The coldest stock plugs on a smallblock were RN9Y, only on 1960s 340s IIRC
But even with a 340, an RN12YC may be needed to minimize fouling of the tip in street use. Depends how its built.
As far as gapping, I'd keep it conservative for better reliability - around .045" Experiment from there if you want.

None of them, Autolite.

Question 1; On my stock engine with enhanced bolt on parts, no cam change, I found .055 to perform the best, your results may vary.

Question 2; Stock heat range unless you have upped the anti with more compression, cam, cylinder head, intake, carb, headers, etc.... then you might find 1 or 2 cooler plugs help.

“You don’t want to get stranded? Then leave the OEM ignition box hooked up Incase of a MSD failure.
MSD was widely known as;

May
Suddenly
Die

I have had a lot of bad experiences with MSD.

Beg to differ stock crap has stranded me more then once..MSD never has..

Thinking back I probably switched over to MSD distributors and ignitions in the late 1970’s early 1980’s and never ever had a failure. 6-7 different cars at least. I switched to autolites in the 1970’s after an issue with champions.

Don’t beg to differ. I won’t argue that. However my results differ, I e been stranded by MSD stuff WAY WAY WAY more than the OE or MP ever did combined.
I’ve gone through 12 boxes with 10 failures.
Your results may vary. I really really DONT care to constantly repeat my results to you. Take it in a hop buddy.

if low compression an ly style plug or equivalent
12, 13,14
RN or 5/8 hexcode
so rn12lyc

I hate to say this but if you went through 10 failures out of 12 MSD boxes you may be part of the problem. When I see some guy’s method of grounding race car systems it make my skin itch. Other guys using those blue snap together wire connectors that belong in the trash cans, one ground wire connected to five different electrical devices, etc, etc.

I just had a brand new digital 6 AL quit on the distributor machine. Just flat quit.

They fixed it. Repair order says they replaced either 1 or 5 (hard to tell from the RO if it’s 1 or 5) 200 ohm resistor with 1K resistor.

It worked back on the machine, so let’s hope that’s the last time that happens.

Autolites gapped at .030 using pump gas, race gas, or alcohol. Msd7al.

Ohhhh champion plugs suck.
I agree that Champion sucks. I gap at .030 -.032.
I've gapped at .028 a time or 2. lol
It's all in the kernel. lol

I have replaced alot more bad Autolite spark plugs than Champion. Not a big fan of Autolite, especially the ones that are not played. I run Champion in my 340, and NGK in the AMX

That would be a negligible ghost rider. MSD admits its there problem each time. Thank you, drive on...

Odd very odd, 4 good ones in my position right now. Hard to believe one guy got all the bad ones. I did watch a buddy of mine burn on up hooking it up with the power on. MSD fixed it.

Been through this many many times on here and else where and through clubs, guru’s, mechanic chops, race shops, and ever dick head at a car meet. I really don’t care to carry on, but since YOU want to....

Tell me, WTF do you know of something you haven’t had your eyes on but everyone else says it’s right but you claim I’m wrong on?

How can you be the supreme key board commando here without seeing jack?

Are you suddenly smarter than MSD who tells me they are wrong? That it is there failure! Please oh wizards of wizards, how does one wire in a MSD as per instructions which are clear and easy to read and understand and follow only to lead to failure oh mighty one. Where is thy Divine Clairvoyance!!!!!

Please break out thy crystal ball and peer through the mystical realms of infinity to and through the great beyond as to help MSD and us lowly creatures of hot rodding and racing!

The stage is yours to answer the question of MSD’s problems!

I fuckin out!

Maybe a different voltage in New York. Those guys are wired a little different. Lol. Happy Mother’s Day.
