I have a 72 Dart with a slant motor was going to do a 360 magnum, but have since changed my mind. I am going to do a big block now, I was able to get a V8 K member will this still work with a big block or do I need to get one of the aftermarket setups?

Thank you in advance

You'll need conversion mounts.

I'm putting a big block in my 73 dart and the mounts are impossible to find right now. There are people on here who can make a mount for you, or you can do a motor plate. I elected to do a motor plate. You can also find some DC K members that are for big blocks, or you could have someone modify the one you have.

I ultimately elected to go with a motor plate because I might race this and wanted a spot to mount the electric water pump and fan. It was just easier for my set up. You can get motor plates from Mancini or a number of other dealers.

It sounds like a good way to go Especially Mancini is only 30 minutes from me.

It depends a lot on which V8 k-member you found. If it's a spool mount, build your own DC k-member. If it is a biscuit mount get conversion mounts or make your own like people did before there were mounts available.

If you are going to use a motor plate then you might want to modify the K frame to look like this one. This is an extra K frame that I have on hand. If you were local I'd sell it for a good price since it would save you a bunch of work.

If you have or can get a spool mount I can modify it for you. I have access to a DC k frame that my brother has. I used to do the same modifications years ago.

Trans adapt makes them, however, they stop at 72. For 73-76, i suggest hunting the classifieds and evilbay to try and find a set of schumaucher conversion mounts or you can save the hassle and make yourself a Direct Connection clone.

Make Your Own DC-K Frame
