Any idea how thick the timing cover is behind the water pump?

Pulled the water pump off the 70 340 yesterday, and like I've seen on others there is some eroded spots on the timing chain cover directly behind where the impeller sits. Doesn't seem too bad but it got me thinking how thick the cover is in that area? If someone has a loose one and a big enough micrometer could you measure it? Or maybe someone already knows. Maybe its as thick as the area around the water passages? Thanks!

I have several that are off, I can measure later this evening.

Not thick enough.... I've had to replace those in the past, as most of us have.
The aftermarket has offered replacement covers. Summit has a Dorman for $78

Years ago, a buddy of mine had an AMC 390 that developed a pinhole leak in the timing cover due to corrosion. It took him quite a while to find that source of his oil contamination.

I'll check mine good, thanks.

Those AMC timing covers were not a great design, plus it was also the housing for the oil pump, so the steel gears would tear the housing up, sending aluminum thru the engine.
