I think the screenshots speak for themselves, that said if it were me and I wasn’t please with an item I thought was misrepresented(whether it was or not), if the offer of a full refund was on the table, I’d returned the whole lot, even the heads and gone elsewhere.

but I also have to question why the rockers and shafts etc weren’t inspected on site when you picked them up? It’d be a bit different if it was a shipped item but this sounds like a face to face transaction. I almost bought a set of 440 roller rockers and shafts at the Indy Swap meet back in March but noticed one of them, the needle bearings looked to have a couple missing, so I passed on the entire lot.

moral of the story, if it’s a FtF deal, and the buyer fails to fully inspect the item at time of purchase, as long as the seller didn’t try to hide obvious flaws or damage, it’s on the buyer.

but in this case, I think it could have been handled a bit better from both ends. Don’t include parts not readily available in a deal until those parts are in fact available to go with the rest of the parts and if you’re gonna take up a return/refund offer, return it all.

Sorry to read Jake, like Rusty said you are one of the guys that goes to salvage yards and keeps on the lookout for members here(myself included). Some people dont realize the effort that goes into scrounging wrecking yards for trinkets. You've also gifted me parts and/or shipping $$. Your contributions here are appreciated and I thank you.
He will get what's coming to him.
Thanks for the warning.

Seems to me the posted messages back up Jake's story. He left nothing out. As usual, he's a stand up guy. Once the offer of a full refund was on the table, the buying party's bitchin rights are null and void.

I did fail to inspect the rockers/shafts before purchase, and that’s on me. I couldn’t have seen that they were different ratios until I got my calipers on them, but in the end you’re right; I failed to inspect them on site. I trusted the seller.

It happens. I’d by lying if I said I notice everything at time of sale. There’s been something’s I’ve missed, nothing really major and usually cosmetic. But still, it’s trust but verify.

I’m not sure about the ones you got, but all the ones I’ve seen, most of them have the ratio stamped into them somewhere. Or at least a part number. I know Crane does on there’s. Not sure about iskys

Wait I don’t get it, you refunded all the buyers money but didn’t get all your parts back? I’m I right?

Your personal attacks say more about you than me. I have a build budget like most people. That budget included rockers, but not heads. Would you like me break it down further or do you understand?
Yeah Jake it looks like karma finally came around and got you way to go karma karma

Yeah Roy, he feels like he gets to keep them because he was wronged. And I’m the one who doesn’t get it?

Jake

You owe me locks/retainers and springs.

You do get it. You just don’t like it.

I really dislike the way this has all transpired. I’ve never been involved in a transaction that has gone this poorly, and it’s clear we see things differently. You can have these shafts back. I don’t need them, and I need the bad blood even less.

I’ve sent the same message on offer-up so that we can discuss, on there, a location to meet.

I think you're right. too many make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Then it turns into facebook drama. It doesn't look good on a car forum.

You got your money back, so return the shafts. Only a dishonest person would keep the parts after a refund. Do the right thing and return the parts. You do not have a leg to stand on.

I'm not taking sides so dont noone take this wrong iv always had great dealings with Jake. But if he paid 400 and you was under the impression he was returning everything why did he only get 380 back? From the messages the way I understand it he was swapping the rockers and 80 for the cranes and then you offered the money back but gave him 380 instead of the full 400 ? Is that correct?
I think this is a misfortune event I dont think there is no bad guy here just a deal gone bad. Just from what I seen.

I thought that also. Then I remembered he prob kept the chrome 20$ valve covers

Had a similar situation, sold a bunch of parts to a guy, have a volume discount, he ended up not wanting most of the parts and asked to return, I said ok, but said that since he only bought one item no discount, let's just say he did not take well to that.

He ended up threating me on my own property, I said what ever and gave him his money back, he knew where I lived and I did not know where he lived so I figured it was worth a few bucks to have him go away.

Funnest thing is that my wife came out with a baseball bat. And after getting her to go back inside she neglected to call the cops!

All's well that doesn't end in a fight.

WOW , threaten me on my own property ?--------- That wouldnt end well for him !! Cops would more than likely take ur side too !

I bought another set, so he can sit on them or hang them up in his garage as a trophy for all I care.

As I originally stated in this thread I’m glad you posted this because if nothing else everyone’s responses have clearly shown that there is more than one way to view our ordeal; so we have a massive misunderstanding. I’ve already offered to return the shafts while fully understanding I’ll never receive my locks/springs/retainers. Drop the ego, and take your shafts back.

Don’t make yourself out to be a martyr saying you’ve already bought another set of shafts; you don’t even have a compete set of rockers to put on them! And PLEASE don’t try to sell those to someone else! Why don’t you acknowledge the pictures I posted of the “new” shaft you tried to sell me? Why don’t you post pictures of the rockers you tried to sell me?

You’ve got your audience and sympathy; is that all you really wanted from all this?

No, I did not get all my money back.
but if i read it correctly, you were offered all your money back, but declined it since you allready installed the heads and didnt want to be out the cost of the headgaskets?

did i read that right?

Yes and no. I was going to take him up on his offer for a refund of everything. It was at that point he offered the crane gold rockers.
