Good morning all,

I hope one day to come to visit your country, undoubtedly the first thing that I think it is the cars and everyone around the automobile.
everyone tells me that i must see New York.
I would like to see: Nascar, Dragters, stores like Summit, small villages.
and the ideal meet, meet people who love cars and chat with them.
I also have to find activities for my wife, because spending a day with her on a drag circuit, she's not going to love, like me.
do you have any suggestions for places to visit in your big and beautiful country?

Gran Platz, diamond district, pelicanstraat, train station, the canals, corsendonk, yours is a beautiful country too!

Most major cities in the US have bus tours like the Grey Line that will show you all of the major points of interest. New York is also known for entertainment if you end up in that area and you may want to plan reservations to some of the more popular theater and Broadway shows well in advance. 5th avenue is a renown shopping district with designer everything available and any kind of food you can imagine. Do you know when you might be visiting?

I'd let you wife choose the places to make her happy. Once there go online and find a car show/swap in the area. If you do roam around rural areas, car events can be few. The desert southwest in and around Tucson, AZ is very pretty and is a large enough sized city it has car stuff and interesting rural cities about an hours drive in any direction like Tombstone. It will be a bit hot if you travel here in next few months though.

stay away from new york and head down south
thats where the real America is

one thing to consider
pic one or two states
dont think that because the distance between two points on a map is the same as the distance between Brugge and Gent...this place is HUGE and it is easy to underestimate the distances

I would say in 2 or 3 years. My wife has already been to the USA twice.
My dream is to see the automotive world as close as possible.

I loved your joke with the distance. I was born in Brazil so I know the distances. I travel a lot in Europe by motorbike, and I got to know a place well that wanting to see everything too quickly.

I find the images of the American flags in front of the house really fascinating.
Has it been a tradition with you since the beginning of your country's history? in all regions?

If you don't see NY city you will miss the life line of America. The city has all the entertainment you could want. Just come next year.
This is a very interesting point of view, and I hadn't thought of that. I even read that the Vikings came to the area near New York.

that is odd isn't it?
in all my travels, Europe and South America I have never seen that display of patriotism anywhere else

whats even stranger is when you get Mexicans move to the US, and then they start waving their flag

(my avatar picture is my flagpole)

Every state has at least a few places to visit.. Some of the best ones I've seen, can't be found in a travel book.

Yes, you will find evidence of our patriotism and pride in all areas of the country. Some areas more so than others.
I have had the same question over the years from visitors from different parts of the world. I believe you will see more patriotic pride here in the USA because we had to fight to win our freedom.
Also, almost all of us are descendants of family that originally made the decision to come to America from other parts of the world. The decision was made for different reasons, but most reasons centered around freedom. My family has been here for almost 200 years.

As for cars, it would be hard to be anything Indianapolis..... You can see as much as you want.... Every state will have it's own appeal in regards to all things automobile..

As for anything else, it just depends on what you think is important in regards to the USA. Follow that idea and do some research. For all we have done, landing on the moon is a pretty big one to me.... Tomb of the unknown soldier is humbling. California beaches and New York night life is somewhere in there also....

Patriotism runs through the American public. That is one thing about the USA "Mess with one of us, you mess with all of us", even though there are disagreements between different cultures.

my wife's family came here in the 90
I came here in 2005
she has 3 siblings, so between all of us there are 4 house
3 of which fly old glory

The sad thing is that most of the flag waving is done disrespectfully. At least around here it is.

The unparalleled beauty of the Pacific Northwest will speak for itself. Look it up and behold... My-2...

Thank you very much for all of your responses. I am very happy to have registered my name in your site. it will make me want to learn English, even more.
I find all manifestations of patriotism very beautiful. I can give you my personal opinion, in relation to brazil, belgium, italy.
Brasil: my best example of patriotism was Ayrton Senna, with each race won, the flags raised. and all the brazilians at the time was proud to be brazilian.
unfortunately Brazilian gives a lot more value to everyone than a foreigner.
Belgium: a country ahead in all areas, people really very qualified, but too modest.
Italy: a glorious past, a very difficult history, a current caotic situation.
