Well...time to order tires and rims. Have gone through a ton of web sites and get conflicting remarks. If guys that have a 69 dart can chime in ...it would be great. It appears 70 and up darts have a little more room then the 69 and down darts. My question is will a crager magnum rim in 15x8 with 245/60r/15 BFG fit. It has a 4.5 offset or am I safer going with a 15x7 with the same tire. Most say a 255/60/15 will not work on a stock 69 dart rear without rubbing on the lip. I am using xhd springs from mopar with a stock 8.75 with new Dr.Diff axles in the LBP. Also ... what do you guys think about using a 15x6 on the front with 205/60r/15. Anyone have clearance issues. Thanks again guys ...great site

My rear 17x8's have a backspacing of 5.25" and I need to do a bit of inner fender work (mainly because on quarter panel and inner fender were replaced had it has a big lip.) with 245/45/17's. 5.5" would have been more ideal as I have some room to go in. I too have a factory A-body 8-3/4 rear converted to LBP. Your best bet is to measure you car and on both sides. Up front I runs a 17x7 with a 4.75" back spacing.

Now on my soap box. Ditch 15" (and 16") wheels. Tire options are getting less and less and the compounds, tread design and tire designs are 20-30 years outdated. Sizes are limited and getting very pricey. I'm not saying get some 24's and hydros but 17" wheels make tire selection a hell of a lot easier on all accounts. When it came time for my car I couldn't find much that was a direct fit in any size then when it came to tires I wasn't happy with Cooper Cobras or BFG Radials and then saw the price and limited sizes....

I have in fact run 15x8 wheels with 4.5 BS and 245 60r15's on my 69 Dart with stock ride height springs. Is VERY tight but fits with NO modifications. I might switch to 15x7 wheels with 255 60r15 rubber.

Hey, just saw this post on the 69 Dart wheel and tire combo. Wondering what type of wheels those are and how you got them with a 5.25" backspace and 4.75 up front?

I have a 69 Dart and have been having a hell of a time trying to find some wheels that fit. The wheels I was looking at (Torq Thrust M) only come in a 17x7 (4" backspace) for up front and a 18x8 (4.5 backspace) out back. I feel like that is not going to be enough backspace with a 245 tire out back. Please help! Thanks!

I got them here:

American Racing Custom Hot Rod Wheels

And they are these:

American Racing Torq Thrust SL

What I don't like is the valve stem is on the inside of the wheel.
Did you try anything with a 0 offset or 4.5 backspace? Or do you think it would clear the quarter panel? I found some wheels, 17x8 with 4.5 backspace(0 offset) and want to run a 245 tire. Questioning whether or not it would fit. It’s driving me nuts since I’ve already spent money on wheels that didn’t fit.

I had a set of 15x7.5 Centerline Convo-Pros that had a 5" back spacing that center perfectly in the rear and rubbed the front upper A arm with 225/60/15's. 5/16 spacer in the front got them to clear but the outside of the tire with flush with the outside of the fender. For reference I think factory 15x7 wheels (i.e. cop wheels) had an approx. positive offset of 6mm for the 73-newer disc brakes as they widen the front track.

Bottom line I gave up on off the shelf wheels fitting. This is with 73-newer fronts discs and 11x2 rear drums with a BBP conversion on a factory A-Body 8-3/4 housing. I'm now Dr Diff 13" front and 11.6" rear.
