For the first time today, I read the lyrics to this Elton John song, never before knew what he was singing about (I happen to be one of those persons who finds it SUPER difficult to pick out the words to songs-except country western maybe). I always love the guitar work here:

sometimes the wrong lyrics are better then the real ones

case and point?

hit me with your pet shark

No wonder you cant hear the words. Everything is compressed and expanded to the point of no recognition these days, along with our shitty hearing. I need a master recording damit.

About the only song of his I like, mainly cause of the guitar.

Along with Funeral For a Friend, my favorite EJ songs.
Never was a huge fan, but his music was always there when I was growing up. He played in a local hockey barn a few years ago, so my wife and I went. Wasn't expecting much, but was blown away. Opened with Funeral/LLB. One good thing about seeing musicians decades after their peak of popularity is they've spent that time practicing. They were really good.

Elton John:
Hold me closer, Tony Danza

CCR:
Don't fool around tonight
For it's bound to take your wife
There's a bathroom on the right

The guitar player on LLB and many other EJ songs is Davey Jonstone, who was also Alice Cooper's guitar player at the same time.

Goodbye yellow brick road, wow, what an album!

Well, open up I'm climbin in, ..........take it easy..................

Wrapped up like a douche, a little odor in the night...Bruce Springsteen. lol

Then again, sometimes the real lyrics are perfect. Like Springsteen's Jungleland:

Barefoot girl sitting on the hood of a Dodge
Drinking warm beer in the soft summer rain

One of my all time favorites:

Beyond the palace
Hemi powered drones
Scream down the boulevard

Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen
