Well your memory was correct by remembering that the front lines are different size for dummy proofing the lines. :thumbsup:

Got a letter the other day from Collectors Auto Insurance, where my dart is insured through, it stated that they will no longer be doing business in the state of Nevada. Now I have to find a new insurance company. My information was passed to Hagerty Insurance and I received a quote from them $116 for the year to insure my car, but that is with my initial 9k value on the car. I want to increase the value but have no clue what the cars value would actually be now.

Any ideas on what I should set the value of my xar at? I was thinking 15-18k? I know it has the rebuilt title but no way I'm getting another clean 69 340 dart with everything I have now for 9k...
 
May want to check with Grundy for a value of $25,000. They have my 67 GT "decoy" for $31,500 and GTS $61,500

What you want to insure it for is so that you could go out and purchase one to replace it at retail value. You can put any value you want but they can always contest it. 15k to 20k sounds about right but as I said retail value so I'd go 20k. But that rebuilt title can be a killer. Get it apprized it should cost $75.00 to 125.00 max if they want more find someone else or pm me.

Are you limited to the amount of miles you can drive with classic insurance? $116 a year sounds really cheap, even at $9k value.

Classic was 126 and I got 5k miles to drive for the year, but I only valued the car at 9k since I paid just under that for the car.

Wow those are some high values but I bet yours are both top notch cars. Idk if they will give me 25k value with my rebuilt title.

Don't most of the companies use an agreed upon value for collectors cars where you tell them the value and they have their experts agree or not?

The different nut and thread sizes with same ID as brake lines are to keep idiot proof when connecting lines to proportioning valve so you don't connect line that's supposed to go to rear to say left front.
On the ni-copper lines, they are better than OEM steel and easier to work with all around including the dreaded double flair. I learned a tip that really helps when double flaring, small round file and clean up the inside of cut line so shards of cut line don't botch up flairs.

Yea the copper may have been easier but the store didnt have copper lines, only the steel line so thats what I had to work with. It went together really well though. All of the new lines are in the original locations and attached via the original brake line clips.

I also made a gasket for the back of the MC its about 1/16 thick; I think I'm going to double it up though and make it 1/8th thick to alleviate any potential problem with the original rod being to long.

Edit- gasket doubled to increase thickness to 1/8th gasket/spacer.

You just have your cars automatically increasing in value? I mean 62k for a GTS is a ton of money, thats like Mr Norms GTS auction price. That is in no way a negative comment, just pointing out an awesome fact that you're getting so much value for your car. One day GTS will be in one of my garages... would it be blasphemy to make a 68 convertible GTS purple with a white top? Lol.

Good grief I better re-value my vehicles. Not a negative comment but seen a #1 67 GT 383 Convertible go for 70K a year ago. And I watched it for a year before it sold, I wanted it soooo bad but $$$$. I use J.C. Taylor for insurance. I've never had any claims but my brother did and they were golden. Anything over 25K needs a appraisal. And you need to have historical plates for the best rate or they'll insure it for a daily driver also. Anyway as I said I really personally don't know about the ni-copper lines but please never use a copper line on brakes. You will wreck your car and maybe injure or kill someone. :)
 
Going with Hagerty Insurance my premium for the year is $196 and we came to a value of 25k to replace my car. It might be a little high for what my car is but was only a 30 dollar difference between 20k and 25k and I'd rather be able to actually replace my car if anything happened to it. The lady with Hagerty was more than happy to value it at 25k as well.

I looked back to 2015 and they had GTS valued at $54,000 then but keep raising value
 
I tried bleeding the brakes today and a couple of the lines were leaking. I then tightened them and the leaked a little more... so I tightened the F*** out of them, my arm hurts now, and I don't see any leaks... hopefully it works and let's me bleed them tomorrow.

Thats an awesome value for those cars! I mean I assume, like me, the value isn't only in the $$ with the car but also sentimental value. I'd rather pay a little more to have it insured for more than lose money trying to replace it.

Tighten loosen tighten loosen. Helps seat the fittings.
