about a bad buyer Bigboy68

This thread was already 3 pages long when i first saw it and as i have been recuperating from a difficult gall bladder surgery, i’ve been sleeping more than usual and not doing much FABOing. So I thought it time to comment after another 3 pages of “comments”.

i’ve been dealing with Rob for nearly 2 years now. Yes, i do feel like he is a friend as i have met with him in person, have talked with him at length by phone and text., I’ve heard all the same reasons/excuses and I accept it could be more than likely they/some of them are true. I look at him buying my parts as future money in the bank. Yes, it’s like a lay-away. Money comes in slowly BUT it has always come in. I met Rob personally about a year ago when we met at another members house where i was delivering a rebuilt Gen I 392 Hemi to my friend Frank. Rob was picking up all the stuff he was making payments on so we were all caught up. I mentioned i was going to put a bunch of stuff for the 8.25 up for sale so we made a new agreement - this was like the 2nd time. Later he was asking about other stuff i might have so I gave him a price on that and added it to the balance. The balance got pretty high - i kept a running total in the Notes on my iPhone of balance due and payments received. I did have to call him out on the lack of payments since i had it all documented. Yes, he had a few words about his lack of payment but with my documentation we came to a quick understanding and the payments increased to a fairly quick frequency and amount. He is supposed to make the final payment of nearly $500 next week which means we will be done with this 2nd segment of buying parts. If no or reduced payment i will so comment on this thread. We are supposed to meet sometime in June to get him all the stuff he’s bought. Am getting ready to start the 3rd major payment olan as he’s committed to buying the 4 speed conversion package i had listed for sale. We talked on the phone and discussed his payment options and over what time period and came up with a plan both of us could live with. And of course it’s like a layaway so no parts leave the house until paid for in full. I see Oldkimmer has chined in. Oldkimmer and i have kept in contact via PM’s on Rob’s payment practices concerning him and me. Happy to see Rob and Oldkimmer are now caught up!

I see there have been several comments about whether or not Rob even has a project. Yes - a pair of 66 Darts and a 68 Dart. IMHO too many projects to be trying to do on disability but that’s just me. He posted a for sale ad on his 66 Dart vert quite awhile ago - no sale IIRC. The stuff he’s buying from me are for the early A
SoI’m sure he’s still got both of them. Told him it’s difficult to buy stuff on just your disability payments.

As @toolmanmike said it’s your choice to sell him parts or not and your choice to take payments or not. As long as the payments come in and on a reasonable schedule, I’ll continue to work with him.
