Trying to learn more about my 4-speed. I have Passon's book but im still not finding too much. The tail shaft is stamped "C39126-3" or "C99126-3". The book says the 99126 was used from 69 to 71. The car its in is a 67 barracuda and the car it is believed to come out of is a 72 duster. What does the -3 mean? The VIN on the case is not readable but it is stamped "C99129-L" on the main case not the side cover. The book doesn't say anything about that.

I think it’s from Dec 1973.On the machined pad where it says pp833 use the last 4 numbers.Go to max wedge.com click on 10,000 day calendar.Type in those numbers in the search box and it tells you the date.

Based on the date code of 4521 it was the 4 thousand 2 hundred 12th transmission built at New Process Gear in Syracuse NY in December of 1973. This would have been installed in 1974 A-body. Don’t discount the fact if the tail shaft case doesn’t match the main case because someone may have rebuilt it from parts. I’m currently rebuilding my 64 4-speed transmission using internal parts and tail shaft parts from a 68.
