Sad at our house today. Our little Chi named Tico crossed the rainbow bridge. He was 14 and could no longer hear and only see out of one eye.( the other was when he was a puppy he broke the fastener from his leash and ran head on into a motorcycle.) He had an enlarged heart and fluid in his lungs. He was on lasic and a heart pill.He also has had some ceasures and had one yesterday morning when he got up he couldn't walk. I carried him into the house and put him on the couch and he would not get off it and his breathing was the worst I heard. He would not eat or drink and was not mobile at all. All day today he continued to get worse so to end his misery and pain we called a place that would come to your home and euthanize your pet. So we did that late this afternoon. I sure miss that little guy.

Very, very sorry for your loss.

We found a vet that does house calls when we had to set our Leo free last year. It's a little comfort knowing they crossed the rainbow bridge in familiar surroundings.

Gah man definitely the hardest reality we have to face as dog owners.

I'm sure you gave Tico a damn good life during his time here and I'll bet if he could talk, he'd say there's no better place to call it a life than in the comfort of the home you made for him.

The true cost of a good dog, is a broken heart in the end.

Condolences to you and the family.

So sorry man, I lost my Lucky a couple of months ago. I go out in the back yard every night to tell him good night. Memories are all we have now. I am sure you gave him the best life he could ever have.

You have our condolences.

Oh no sorry to hear this. I recently lost a fur baby too it is a horrible thing to go thru thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

My condolences. I still cry over the Rottweiler we out down in February.

We lose a little part of our being when we lose a loved one, and yes we love our dogs. But, we are lucky. Those people on this Earth that have never known the love and devotion between man and dog, there is a piece of their soul they have never known. I don't remember who wrote this first but it rings so true.
So very sorry for your lose.

So sad for your loss. We lost our Corgi about two months ago. One of the worst days of our lives. People in a dog suit. God Speed Tico.

I'm very sorry for your loss. As I sit here surfing FABO, my 15 year old Shitzoo is sitting right here against my leg....sound asleep. She is healthy and active, but I dread the day I lose her. They'll all be waiting at The Rainbow Bridge for us.

I want to thank you great mopar friends for all your replies! It has meant a lot to me all your words of encouragement. It really helped me to feel better . I know I will always miss him but feeling better that he is not in pain anymore and has crossed the rainbow bridge . A very heart felt Thank you again.
Howard

Very sorry to hear this. Our critters become part of us, and it's a terrible thing when we have to say goodbye. I just did this with Maggie, my shelter dog of 14 years - she just ran out of gas. One bright spot though, is I've had several times where I swear part of a previous pet's spirit circles around to arrive again. I just had a 5-week old kitten choose me as its person, and there are a lot of similarities in Yoda (the kitten) and Maggie. I had no intention of getting another critter but here he is and here he will stay.

So sorry for your loss, I have been blessed with many great dogs in my life and while it never gets any easier when you have to let them cross the Rainbow Bridge, I find comfort in the knowledge that there is no more pain for them. My wife and I will have to make that decision again soon with one of our dogs, I completely understand what you are feeling now.

Kimmer, I think I am thinking on the same lines as you and won't be getting another pet. I'll be 74 in August and I have slowed down considerably and I took my little guys passing pretty hard. I love animals but don't want the responsibility or having to bury another one. Howard

Howard, they are our best friends. My daughter and granddaughter have a 10 year old Heinz 57 and I’ll take it pretty hard when he passes on. I guess we all will. Kim

Our pets give us unconditional love. They don't care what kind of day you've had, but when you walk in the house they are always glad to see you. RIP to all of the fur babies. I want to think that they will be waiting for us when it's our time to cross over.

Sorry for your pain. It’s tough to lose such a loved part of life.
