Cant find a 8 3/4 rear close by but I did find a DANA s60 out of a 1995 dodge 2500. Any thoughts on using that rear ? Of coarse ill have to narrow it. Ill call DOC DIFF to see If he has axles & any other parts ill need.

Around here they are more plentiful than 8-3/4’s. Dr Diff has all the parts to narrow them.

Heavy! Maybe a little overkill

Bah humbug!
There is no such thing as overkill, just reload and keep firing. Nuke 'em from orbit, it's the only way to be sure. Or, nuke them till they glow and shoot them in the dark.

The S60 I got from Cass was only a few pounds heavier than the 8 3/4, which he was out of stock at the time. I did want the 8 3/4 for easier gear changes. But the Barracuda isn't my DD, so 4.10 is fine with me.

look for a dana 60 out of a 1967 to 72 ford 1/2 ton pickup. it has passenger axles and brakes, it's way lighter . about same as a 8 3/4 .change ends to mopar and use your axles, both have 30 splines. just food for thought.

Man all this talk about rear ends , what about an 8.8 out of an explorer,31 spline axles most 373 only half to narrow one side and its disc brakes ?

But its a ford. And nobody likes a ford !

I got mine out of a B200 about a 1980 maybe a 1976 Looked just like a car 60 but the pad wasn't drilled for the pinion snubber. $75

I bought a heavy duty Dodge truck Dana 60 and by the time I was all said and done it was about $1,200. The same amount I put into my 8 and 3/4 and blew it up about 20 passes down the track...my-2..

I was considering the dana s60 because it was just a few miles from me. But it sold just that quick. My problem is that I can find an 8 3/4 close. With my back the way it is I cant drive or ride for long. IT SUCKS

LOL , nuke them till they glow and shoot them in the dark!!

Back when I started building this/currant car , I had a dana 60 built , w/ a detroit locker, narrowed , 3:73 gears , and disc brakes installed , w/ 3/4'' narrower spring pads. The guy did an excellant job , haven`t had any trouble at all out of it or anything on it , doesn`t whine , and it fit like a glove . Did have to make my own emergency cables tho , I dont know or care what it came out of , my car doesn`t hook hard enough so far to care ----

yea but cant find an 8 3/4 close & at a good price this dana is $200 not going to be raced just a street car with a 408
Well you'll have a rear diff that will live a long life

Try one of the local yards around, Wayne. im sure there is a Dana 60 in a truck or van there. Have them pull it.

Aren't the heavier-duty truck Dana 60s full-floating though? Or is that not a big deal to convert to semi-floating? I know my 72 D200 (3/4-ton 2WD) truck has a full-floating Dana 60.

the dana 60 from 1/2 ton fords were made same as a passenger car, no floating axles. change to 8 3/4 ends and use your axles, 30 spline

I used a 60 from a 78 F250. Doctor diff ends, etc. bought a jig for narrowing from ebay. Works for D60 and 8 3/4. The newer 60’s have bigger axle tubes.

I thought this thread was about S60 rear ends which is the Strange 60? I highly recommend them if you can afford one. Nothing cooler than this cover peeking out from underneath your gas tank.

I concur but 5000$ Canadian, is tough to take basically the price you see on a website, just double it and that’s what us canucks pay :(
