Im getting tired of having to vent on these BS storefronts online! But let me get it off my chest for your enjoyment.
March 31 I see a smokin deal on a 2Kg tabletop smelter for metals. It has a removeable crucible for the metal as well as the heater element, cheap pair of tongs, unsafe gloves, etc. My son is into this stuff (as well as I) so I thought it would be a cool birthday gift. So I buy it via paypal (oh ****....) and I get a china tracking number. WTF, the guys address is in Arizona? Kinda why I bought it through him....anyway. 15-20 days shipping....MY ***! I kept checking about the 3rd week in and the thing is still parked at the Shanghai airport. A month goes by and it doesn't move! Finally it makes it to Los Angeles and I got it today in the mail after 51 DAYS...'it' was in one of those china bulk mail plastic envelopes that offers no support, but it wasn't a smelter. it was 3 F'n cheap *** 'fashion' face masks!!! The kind that are $3 a piece at 7-11 now. So I paid $70 for 9 buck worth of facemasks? I quickly check the tracking and invoice numbers on the parcel and they all match. So I go back to my paypal records and I see the paid invoice but it only lists a SKU number, invoice number and total paid. So I go back to website and look up this SKU, nothing shows up, all my email correspondence never once mention what I bought, just 'your order'. Im thinking I'm screwed as I have no "not as described" proof that I bought this smelter instead of worthless fashion facemasks as there is no record of the description of the product. I'm thinking there must be a way to see what I bought on March 31...Google to the rescue! >Myactivity.google.com< is a website that allows you to look back in time and see where you were online on a day or timeframe. So Im looking and Bam!, I find the website link that I bought it off of and it even had the hyperlink to the product (still currently for sale at the exact same price as my invoice) and the time I viewed it! Hopefully my inquiry to them to describe to me what I actually bought will shed some light on this predicament. I may have to use this 'proof' with paypal to dispute the 'not as described' buyer protection...These MotherF'rs must think were stupid...maybe we are for still buying crap from them? Tell me how stupid I am.....be gentle.

Not stupid......hopeful. nothing wrong with hopeful.

Ha, thanks. I feel better now....

This kind of crap really chaps my hide !
I too have run into Ebaggers posing as AMERICANS with 'ship from' addresses here in the states. Don't even get me started on the JOKE of free shipping.. it would be better sent on carrier pigeon !
I recently ordered a contactor switch off Ebag with an Arizona address.. after 3 days of no movement, I 'contacted the seller'.
The next day I get a response. "your item have ship. No worry you get on tursday"
It ended up being fulfilled by Amazon. I know what happened, that chucklehead forgot to fwd the order or something, so when I rattled his chicken cage, it made it into the system.

First thing i do on eBay is check the box, North America only and then see where in America it's coming from. However I buy most items from Amazon nowadays than eBay. I really go out of my way to not buy any Chinese products, but it's hard sometimes when they are the only one making it.

I ordered some shoes from China back in November and had to go back and forth to get the correct size.

The quality is ok, but they didn't send right size, despite the correct size being on the invoice, flip the shoe over and its the wrong size....too big.

I think they mess with us just so they can laugh.

I finally got the size and everything right but it took a few weeks after waiting for weeks for the shoes to arrive in the first place.

It's really unfortunate that China has better clothes fashion and way better prices than what is commonly available here.

Completely agree. Last summer, I'm on vacation looking for a beach chair. Lost of Chinese ones for $30-50.-. I'm in this small hardware-like store, found several "Made in USA" They're $90.-. Yes, I bit the bullet and got it.

well, my kid just told me that everything shipping from China comes with face masks now....So..I got them..where is the box if the tracking said it shipped? Ill give the seller a few days to respond.

maybe they send the masks first to get you prepared to open the second package just in case they sent you a dose of Kung flu as a free gift for your purchase

This exact thing happened to my wife. She bought an electronic device from Walmart online. Took two months instead of the promised 3 days. Got a Babydoll outfit (for an actual newborn).

Contacted customer support and in the original email put all the relevant details, screen shots of the webpage, picture of the item received, packaging, the works.

A week goes by, get a response: "we're sorry, can you send the order number?".. It's in the original email. She plays along, and I **** you not, every response (each taking 5+ days) asks for the next bit of info, a picture, link to the item she tried to buy, etc. We contested it with the credit card and got our money back.

The next day, we got a tracking number, then a scolding email telling my wife she's a terrible person for going to the credit card company and that they're going to cancel the order and refund.

We didn't bother with a response, we figure they just play the numbers and a certain number of people are going to miss the window with their credit company.. After the way this year has gone, we've sworn off made in China. I'll buy used or made in USA (or dozens of other non Chinese countries) first.

And you can bet your butt that EBay will stand behind them too. Just like when they did away with the wild card search using the ! and a lot of other things. If I wasn't so good at finding deals on EBay still, I'd flush um like a hot turd.

Ebay is getting bad about it. Ebay is like wish revamped now. I'm a lifelong ebay user iv been using Ebay since I was probably 16 when it first started. I remember the first thing I ever bought off ebay. I bought the trim piece that goes between the taillights for my dart. Mine had a big dent in it. Ebay use to be like a online garage sale used parts forum. Now it's all commercialized. I'm starting to get annoyed with it. I have gotten screwed 3 times in the past year. All 3 where supposed to be us shipped and when I paid with paypal it was some Chinese name and instantly the ad disappeared and the user was no longer available. Freaking crooks. However all three times PayPal refunded my money so it worked out ok.

I`ll not wear a face mask from china , thats for dam sure !!

I’m not an online buyer, so I’m no help here. I don’t do amazon, eBay, or any other entity. I don’t Have a credit card, only a PayPal debit card to ship items that are paid for through PayPal, and always buy local at the auto parts. Even then sometimes I get the wrong part, but I can always just drive the 4 miles back to the store and exchange it. Too many scammers, and variables in the online world for me!

You got my cheap Chinese fashion face masks?

Great, I'll be expecting your smelter to show up at my house, in a few more weeks.

I got sucked into buying some facemasks from an online company, no indication of it being anything but an american company. But then same thing, got the chinese tracking number, product has been sitting in California for almost 3 weeks. And now that I know they came from China, my wife says she wont even wear them.

maybe I'm lucky but, I've bought a LOT of crap off eBay since 2011 and I've had nothing but a good experience. not one issue to speak of.

I'm glad I grew up when I did. We would melt tire weights to make sinkers. I know we didn't use any Chinese ****. Being at the mercy of China would not go over well with many of my elders.

I know a few people like you and understand your reasoning. I've been buying on eBay for over 20 years and have completed over 1000 transactions in that time with only a few issues and those were taken care of by eBay refunding my money. I have been buying from Amazon for over 20 years as well. Of course when I started buying from Amazon they were only a book seller and I used them because they carried books that the local stores didn't. I like to do business with local businesses, as well as, the next guy, but when the local store wanted $37 this week for a can of parting wax and I got it the next day from Amazon for $18 it's hard not to buy from them. I live in a city of 80,000 and it's even hard to get quality hardware/ nuts and bolts local anymore, so I order a lot of that from McMaster Carr. Place my order by 7 EST and it shows up the next morning. Best part of online shopping is you can do it 24/7/365 and you can find items that the local guy/s don't carry. I even buy my clothes and shoes online anymore. Where there we like it or not ordering online will become more of a necessity as time moves forward. When you aren't willing to do online shopping you severely limit the availability of products available to you and are always at the mercy of the local seller on price.

I was forced to open them to take a pic for records, and they were not even fashion masks, just black pleated paper surgical style...so you can have 'em.

I guess I’m lucky to have one of the best old school hardware stores on the planet right in my back yard. If I can’t find what I need there, it probably doesn’t exist. I was recently looking for the 5/32” clutch head screwdriver tip for the Holley carb screws, my local Ace didn’t have it, True Vaue?....nope, big box, not even in the safety kit for $25! Rolisons?? Had a whole bin full for .80c a piece.

I don’t besmerch anybody from buying online, I make a decent business selling Mopar parts there, it’s just that I am old school, and have always been like this. I plan ahead, sometimes weeks or months, and save up the money to buy things, that’s just what I’ve always done. And I like quality, and an over the counter guarantee, learned that from quality fishing stuff.

You could handle them lightly, wash them in clorox solution , washing ur hands after handling them ------------I`d think .
