Ok, I have a drive shaft that had no yolk on it and it is tapered on one end, which end does the yolk go on? The tapered end or the fat end? I have no clue because it didn't have a yolk at all and it will be mated to a 904 and 8 3/4 rear. re even a difference?
Thanks in advance

My factory 69 383 is tapered on both ends. Please elaborate.

If its only tapered on one end, it goes towards the front. I agree, that yoke is hanging way too far out on that pic above.

I have seen similar conditions on totally original cars. The habit of the Y O K E only sticking out an inch from the tailshaft is a guideline, not an absolute requirement.

Funny how the thing that we call a drive shaft is referred to as the propeller shaft in the Mopar manuals!

The SLIP YOKE is attached to the larger diameter end of the driveshaft.

The PINION YOKE is attached to the tapered end of the driveshaft.

Crap, DrDiff is right. I had it backwards. There is a reason for the taper but I cant remember what it is.
Cass, will you be getting the 489 cases back in stock soon?

I de-listed 8.75" third-members because I have been swamped lately and I don't want to be buried in online orders. I'm still building them on a regular basis.

I still don't know when I will receive my big order of Sure-Trac helical differentials. Because of the pandemic, my supply chain is messed up.

Oh I can answer the question all right if it was spelled correctly, a driveshaft is NOT an egg. The question was answered above...
Oh really? You know the answer and it was already answered "above" ? Well check post #15 genius then go back on facebook with the rest of the insulting keyboard warriors. I came here to ask for help, not to get harassed by the grammar police.

Thanks Doc. I was going to call you about it since I just purchased a bunch of 8 3/4 stuff from you but figured I would ask here first. Again, thank you

Yolks, yokes and yokels all come together here on this thread. stay tuned!
