Trying to build power....225 step by step help

-
Cant list it all but here are a few of the things i had done. Clifford Per. kit with 2 bbl weber for /6. EI, Ele. Fuel pump. Milled the head 100k decked blocked 25k. bored .40 over, Balanced blue printed. head ported polished 3 angle val job, erson cam, dual exhuast with cherry bomb vortex glass packs! a904 rebuilt with shift kit! factory rear end no up grade yet! HP not dyno still to come.
Weight less than factory got rid of alot of iron.
No stall stock gear.
complete labor parts 5800 trans was 550.
if i did it again I go 60 over with dual 2 barrel carbs and a roller kit!
It is an every day driver for fun and car shows!
1965 Dodge Dart 225 Slant Six Rebuild Dual exhaust! Type this in on you tube and listen for yourself!

Sounds good, it really does, but 200HP at the very most. Probably 160 at the rear wheels.

Whats the recipe to bring it to 250-300 hp ?

There is no naturally aspirated recipe. Well.......where it would still be driveable on the street. You'd be talking about above 12.5:1 compression, BIG custom solid roller camshaft, all out ported head with huge valves, a large four barrel and big tube custom headers. Then you might get to or slightly eclipse 300 HP.

It's all the head. The 170 was designed first. The head was designed around the 170 and never redesigned around the 225.

So... valve change , major port work and different intake and headers + a bump with a shaved head or shaved block would help ? I would like my car to weight 2 500 pounds , and have a strong reliable 225 , dont want a 10 sec either , i just dont want to swap it for a v8 ( again ) ahahahah

Best thing to do is talk to a seasoned machinist that know what he is doing! Dont rely on what you read that is supposed to work! talk to a professional! Check out Slant six forums, Doug Dutra posted a how to blog on stroking a slant! If I really wanted what you are asking for I would find the best engine builder known and crate my engine to him and let him work his stuff! At the end of the day all that matters is, are you happy, do what you want and dont worry about others opinions!

Stroke a 225.......? that already has a 4.125 arm in it, with a teeny tiny 3.40 piston.....?
I had no idea.... a longer arm was available. Hmmmmmmm

There is no longer arm available. You can build a long ROD 225 with the 198 rod but that doesn't change the stroke.

I dont know Im not an engine builder, I have to rely on what doug dutra posted!

Dutra may well have done something custom and offset ground a crank. I don't know. I know he has done some things not everybody else has tried. A lot of it has failed, but that's how you find what works. A lot of what he's done has worked.

And there are a lot of engine builders and machinists here. Right in this thread. Myself included.

Cool you own your own machine shop? I posted Dougs article in Slant Six engines forum!

So this can be done with a ford but not a dodge engine?

No, I've worked in and managed them before. Been messin with this stuff since 74.

We've already told you why it cannot be done with a 225. You solve the head problem and maybe it can be.

DO you know the bore and stroke on a Ford 300? It has a 4" bore and 3.98" stroke. The 225 has a 3.4" bore and 4.125" stroke and a head designed for a 170.

You be the first. Go get 'em Dano.
300/225=1.33 hp per cube, that's a stinking huge target for any Mopar engine, and takes a wheelbarrowfull of cash.
on a 273, that compares at 363,
a 318 takes 423
a 360 ; 480hp
a 416 stroker; 555hp
On a 440; 586hp

Some/most of these engines have lots of HO heads available.
The slanty does not.
And it doesn't stop with the engine; now you gotta upgrade just about everything else. And what about those tiny wheel wells, with skinny 14s barely fitting in there? What good is 300hp if you need a Super-hi-stall TC to get moving and blow 200hp away on the starting pad? Poof, gone up in tirespin.
IMO,
I think,
You need to;
Lower your expectations,
supercharge it,
or swap it out.

V-8 fat heads and haters gonna hate!

OP asked;
250 hp not turbo or supercharge ( and street friendly ) is it possible ??
Whats the recipe to bring it to 250-300 hp ?
Several posters said as nicely as possible, probably not NA.

How old are you? Are you prepared to front the money, the expertise, and the time? You build one and show us all how it's done. Then put it in a Challenger with a 3speed M/T. that will make about the lousiest streeter ever; It ain't gonna happen.

You must have some posts mixed up. Im not building anything. I already have my / and 904 built! I was responding to someone asking about ideas to get HP out of a six! I dont know how all this got mixed up! But yes I put big money into my cars... Money is no object to me if I want it I will have it built correctly and to the hilt! Try having a sense of humor, your short temper is why i left slant six forums, to may hot heads and negative people over there!

It got mixed up because you quoted my post #46 in your post #47.
You were the one spewing hate. Since you quoted my post, how could I think anything but, that it was directed at me.

V-8 fat heads and haters gonna hate!
How is this not juvenile?

You haven't been here long enough to know me, so you wouldn't know how patient a man I am.
If yur gonna spew childish crap, then yur gonna have to explain it.
Learn to say what you mean, and mean what you say;
I/we are not mind readers.
There is no anger in these words. Nor humor.
When you make a mistake just own it and say sorry, I for one, am not interested in a re-direct, we get enough of that in the N&P,lol. See; lol, indicates humor, and is same as; insert chuckle here..
