My lawyer wants me to have this to pursue a seller for a misrepresented motor. Otherwise it will be what text I have an my word against his in court. If I have this Ad it's a no win situation for him.

Has anyone done this and if so how did you get it done.....

Thanks,
JW

Has lawyer contacted Craigslist? They may have to keep records for such situations.

How long ago did you last view the ad? Depending on your browser setting you may be able to retrieve it from your cache still.

Otherwise it would likely take a legal order to Craigslist to make it happen. Even if they do have the information on their servers still they likely will not release it without some kind of order.

try >myactivity.google.com< and put in date range, worked for me as you always see old craigslist ads in search engines and then you try and hit the link (picture link even) and it says "post deleted". Let me know if it works for you.

Thanks everyone for replying. I am trying to get in contact with Craigslist as I am told they will still have it. This was deleted Around 5/11/2020.

Here is the URL.

To all buyers if you don't want to end up like me take a screen shot of the Ad. I will still take it to court and make him lie to the judge but the Ad nails it....

In the past I've been able to Google from a laptop or desktop using key words from the ad. Then scroll through the pages to find it. When you see what could be the one, to the right of the post there is a "more" link. Click on that and you should see "cache". Then click on that and the original information should come up.

If you get there you can "print screen" then paste it on a blank Word document.

I don't use a laptop like I used to do I'm not sure if it still works.

What was the ad, I'll look to see what I can find.

I found your post on yellow bullet.

Google now has an arrow on the right side that when you click on it shows cache. Just need enough info from the original ad to find it.

Keywords could be 360, hastings, clevite, cloyes, X heads. Run on engine stand. The ad is from Baltimore, Maryland.

I am not showing a green arrow or a cache tab when I open up in Google. I do however see a portion of the listing. I am thinking the Ad can be obtained.

I hope so. The seller needs his world rocked honestly. No better way to make someone feel pain better than hitting the wallet....

I found this but, like you found, there isn't an arrow like there is on your post. If you click the arrow on your post, and click cache , your post comes up.

eBay might have done something so you can't look at old ads.

I'll keep searching for it!!

Sorry you had a bad deal. Have you tried the cache in your own computer? Unless you've dumped it, it should still be in there "somewhere".

Thanks RRR. I have not located it. My IT guys at work say no. Not so sure myself. I think Craigslist will provide me the Ad or I can contact my local Law enforcement and they can probably get it.

I tried to give the guy an opportunity to make it right however he's wants to be "the man" so fine. I will get him into court. But the Ad is the smoking gun.

Thanks to everyone who has tried to help,

@TrailBeast is really good at this stuff. Maybe he'll chime in and can help out.

A craigslist ad cannot be recovered once deleted, sorry.
In the future always make a screen shot of an ad when you are buying something... it helps.

I am normally a stickler to buying things but this guy got by me. However and I am not doubting you but in this day and age I have a hard time believing Clist can't provide me with the ad. Not even a month old.... I am awaiting an email from them now... But it's almost impossible to speak with a live person there.... Gonna keep at it until I run out of road...
