Woodruff key found in the bottom of a 340 with 7qt. pan

Which does it look like? Crank or cam? Easy to see the crank key. Just remove the balancer bolt and get a light and look in the end of the crank. You'll see it if it's there. If it's the short half moon like a cam key, then it's time to take the front cover off.

It's the cam key. Sounds like I have to see if one is in the cam front end. If so I assume someone dropped one by mistake but how could it run without one. The timing would be way off.
