Made a lot of progress thanks to this group!!

Great looking '62 !! On the smoking resistor/non functioning ammeter. You can remove the three gauge cluster and simply join the two ammeter wires together to complete the electrical circuit. Because they are "hot" you'll have to insulate this connection to prevent any contact with metal nearby. If doing this stops the excessive heat (some heat in resistor is normal) and smoking of the resistor it says the ammeter gauge is internally damaged. While out I'd test the circuit board holding these three gauges. After 60 years they can be troublesome but have recently learned it is possible to restore function to them.
