Its only been a couple of days and I'm already going crazy... The blessings of ADHD...

After reconfiguring engine, painting the engine bay, rebuilding the transmission and new brake lines Im out of project's for the car and project monies (says the wife)...

Its been 100-105 degrees here in Vegas the past week so to hot to go anywhere or really drive the car much.

I figure I can start detailing things on the car and maybe try to touch up some of the interior pieces/exterior pieces but I dont have any "large" projects. I'd love to redo the seats or start body work to repaint the car but those are to expensive right now.

How do you keep busy with your car or go about doing/planning your next project? I know some people will have multiple cars with years of priming and sanding left to do before repainting their car which keeps them busy. For the most of us with 1 car what do you do when you're out of projects or you wife cuts off your spending? Lol.

Picture for fun.

I have put the brakes on most things now.... Our Governor is now requiring people to wear Mask in public. We had buses burn to the ground last night because of a bunch of idiots.... And we are sucking wind at work in regards to our capacity.

What does all that mean. Go no where unless absolutely necessary. Do not spend unless absolutely necessary. And just do a life reset right now. It will pass but the country is in a hot mess.....

I may piddle in the garage a little and wait for things to settle down. I have purchase commitments for parts on the car and parts are at the machine shop but that's where it all stop right now....

Everyone stay safe...

The world is crazy I can agree with that and I can also agree with the staying safe part!

I'm not good at doing nothing though. I start to go crazy.

With those kids you will never run out of things to do..... Looks like they are ready to go be kids. Nice...

JW

Yes all 3 of them are definitely 100% busy body kids... just like me.

Been off work since the first of April managing to stay very busy doing homeowner stuff and cleaning out junk while watching the $$ we were never big socializers anyway so that hasn't changed much just setting back watching life go by and how screwed up the country is fortunately we're in small town USA away from the big city problems - so far anyway and yes I'm not good at doing nothing either but learning as I see it there is no other choice

I suggest you contact your buddy up in WA who will be happy to buy you a round trip ticket up here. He can keep you busy for months. Free beer and hot dogs too. :D

I'm not ADHD or anything close to it so my list of things to do is always long. It's real easy to fart away the day anymore. That said, I think you have a reasonable thought process. Look for stuff that's labor intensive but cheap. Have you looked at scraping all the crap from the underside of your car? It requires nothing more than a heat gun (or maybe even wifey's hair dryer) and a putty knife. That will hold you for a while. Your door panels getting fiddled back into place will occupy a fair bit of time as well. Any electrical stuff to be cleaned up? Wires in the engine bay that got painted black that you could clean off so you know what goes where?

Or come up here and help me get my car on the road. It's always an option...

have you clay bar'd the whole car yet? that should get you through the weekend

Where in Washington? We do need to plan a trip up there soon to see the father in law and grandparents. They live in Spokane, I love it there!

Oh the little projects which I avoid... lol
Yes on the list is buff and wax the car. polish up some trim. door cards... For some reason little projects aren't my favorite things to do.

Grease and grime off the underside of the car??? Ive gotten most of that off in the engine bay, front k member and transmission area.. everywhere else can wait lol.

Pull any and all trim off the car that you can, and them get busy buffing and polishing. You can grab a bench top buffing wheel online for $75-$90. You may already have one, IDK.

It's amazing how well your trim will shine up with just a bit of time on the buffing wheel.

Hey Doc
You have AC, you have kids, you have a wife, toss them all in the car and take a road trip. Go do the Dam tour, or the marshmallow factory tour

Organize your local car folks and get a Cruse on the strip going.

Enjoy the fruits of your labor for a while. In the fall and it's not 10000 degrees then start another project.

OR add AC to your garage!

I try to stay busy with projects around the house, making sure I have organised all of the parts & pieces for my 416 build when I get more money for machine work, keeping the yard cut about every 10 days, chasing parts & doing research for friends who have builds in progress but are still working, & doing my best not to irritate my wife, LOL on irritating the wife. She's put up with me for the 20 years we've been together & we coexist well together.

You are correct and incorrect all at the same time... my car technically has A/C but it has never worked. I don't know why... the compressor clutch spins but it never blows cold air... another thing on the back burner haha.

I dont have a bench top buffing wheel but I bought this orbital buffer today because after 30 minutes of hand buffing I gave up lol.. i can't really tell how well its working because I started losing light outside while I was using it. Ill check tomorrow the difference between panels done vs not and see if I should return it for a da buffer.

You can definitely feel the difference but I still have these bubbles and stuff.

I'm very good at irritating the wife even when I am trying not to:rofl:

I clean and organize my tools when I have nothing better to do. I also would rather go fly fishing on the river than work on the car. lol
Guess what, it's fly fishing season !!

I miss living in a place with seasons other than hot, hotter than balls and cold(winter in the 40/50s)
