We're Back! American Astronauts Launched In An American Rocket From American Soil

That wouldn't surprise me at all. I haven't seen nor heard any Minuteman rockets in quite a while. They must be letting Quajalene Island heal up some . Tests were a pretty regular occurrence for many years. I think there are 7 space launch facilities out there? No idea how many Minuteman silos.

year before last August my wife and I were down that way. Stopped at Vandenburg at the PX. We saw there was a museum so we set out to explore. Drove out west looking for signs. Got to a bend in the road and there in front of us was a large black painted building, triple wire surrounding it, several roaring security AF types and “Use Of Deadly Force” signs all around the place. Decided that wasn’t the place to ask for directions so we continued on. Didn’t hit any security checkpoints so kept going looking for that damn museum.

we got down to some gantries and decided we must of missed a turnoff so we turned around and headed back toward main base. Never did find find the museum. I did stop by a couple of security police getting fuel for their ATV. I asked them and they didn’t seem to know. I told them how far we had gone and their reply was we weren’t suppose to be down there. They asked for my ID which I showed my retired military ID. They recorded it on their gee wizz machine and told me to have a nice day. Really surprised in that usually AF bases have fairly tight security. May swing down that way again and look for that museum.
