We're Back! American Astronauts Launched In An American Rocket From American Soil

It's an odd facility. Southern Pacific RR goes right through it. AMTRAK station is right outside one of the gates. One of the Atlas sites you can drive within a mile of on county roads and see it very plainly. There was talk about letting the land speed record crowd use the runway they extended for Shuttle landings to play on. A good portion of the base is barely marked as Federal property, let alone guarded. There were some BIG Black Tail bucks out there, seen 'em. One of the carpenters that worked with us was driving his Jag XKE in one morning met one of them, wadded that Jag up like a Bud can at a fraternity party :rofl: lucky he wasn't killed. If the tide was real low you could still see remnants of the Honda Point Disaster of 1923.

7 Destroyers turned left at the wrong lighthouse. That's at the beach next to SLC6 the Shuttle complex. Mid September they sposed to launch a Delta IV Heavy out of there, really like to see that one.

I kinda figured that black building has something to do with training the Minuteman crews.
