That just begs the question.....if they're so great, why don't they still run them?

Anybody needing a B body 4 speed ? Lol
I went and bought it knowing it wouldn't work.
Got it at a reasonable price tho.

You can swap out the tail housing and mainshaft for an A Body. Probably sell the B Body parts and come close to even.

Yeah. $500 through Brewers to do that.
No thanks.
Sticking with the 230 for now.

Plus I have 2 of them. Complete with shifters.
Paid $125 for one and $150 for the other.

I like shifting gears. Just thought it might be fun to go through one more after leaving a stop light.
That's all. No more. No less.

It's going to be just a daily driver. It MIGHT, MAYBE, KINDA MAYBE, make a pass down the strip one time at the annual Run-whatch-ya-brung deal but that's it. Drag racing ain't my "thing".
Now, if you want to go dirt track racing, well co'mon......

So great? No better, no worse in general- they do tolerate more deflection than u-joints; and like u-joints, they need to be properly sized to the load. And they do still use them- nowadays they're called CV joints.

No need to go bickering back and forth about B&T vs U- joint. It don't mean squat to me. Save that for another thread.
I gotta build a new driveshaft no matter what.(#1)
I put a 8 3/4" in it.
I gotta cut a hole in the floor someplace. for a shifter no matter what. (#2) Car is a 3 on the tree to start with.
Car is going to be a " semi- rat rod". Most everything underneath is new and / or updated.
Body will remain as is.
I am not a MOPAR " purist" where as if l unbolt it from here, then l must bolt it up to there ,without any sort of modification. Seems like there are many out there.
I am an always have been a welder / fabricator. I have been oval track racing for over 50 years.
I'm kinda getting out of that. I thought maybe l would play around with this old '63 Valiant wagon l found for $300.
So you see, it dosen't bother me one bit to take a cut off wheel or torch or big sledge to something.
I started off just trying to get a little info on what would or not work.
That's one thing l liked about Chevy trans / engines. You can bolt up a 3 or 4 speed to anything from a inline 6 to a 454. ( within reason)

I was just looking for a little info.

Thanks and have a good day.
