i got 14 inch rims for my 1964 dodge dart wonder what would be a good size for the car im trying to get as wide as possible with out changing anything on the car i was thinking 215 r14 70. let me know what you guys think!:toothy1:

I've been looking for tires to put on a '66 Valiant & there isn't a big selection of tires.
I'm thinking of getting Kuhmo Solus KR21 215/70R14.
Let me know what you do & how it works out.

Depends how wide your 14" wheels are.
14x4.5" Go with a 205/70-14
14x5.5" Go with a 215/70-14

I had 15X7's with 4.5" BS with a 245/60. Ran real close to the wheel well lip. Had 235/60's when I sold the car. They fit real nice

I will be running: 225/60-15s on 15x7s 4.5" BS out back, 205/70-15s on 15x6s. 4.25" BS up front. If you want to run a matched set, the front will be the limiting factor, not the rear.

Personally I like the P195/70R14 on the front and P235/60R14 on the rear. The tires are almost identical in diameter, definitely no problem with clearances on either end (65 Barracuda). Using rallye wheels, but if you won't reconsider and still want the widest possible, see above!

Yep....for the rear, 14 x 7 with 235/60R14 fit well if the back space is right
On the front, 14 x 6 or 5.5 with 195/75R14 fit well.

So, I went with 215/70 R14s on all 4 rims since that fit my Duster very well. The front tires rub the lower, inner fender, so I have to do some hacking of sheet metal?

6 year old thread. CJH hasn't been on here since 2015. You might not get an answer. And they were talking about early A's and not Dusters and Demons. Just sayin'.

Yes, the 215 will just nick the bottom portion of the front fender. The trick is to tape a small straight line on the area. Get a cutoff wheel and cut along the line. Do some light filing.Get a little touch up paint and dab it on. Its sounds like a big deal, but it really isn't. Even the trained eye would have a hard time seeing any difference.

215/70-14 Early A

That should be a 25.8” tire, which is borderline on the lower front corner of the fender but will clear on a lot of cars, including your Duster which is quite different from the Early-A's talked about here.

Before you cut anything, look at the fender to bumper brace on that lower front corner. If it isn’t maxed out on the adjustment you may be able to just push the lower fender corner out with the brace a little to get your clearance. If that doesn’t work then you may have to cut the corner off the lip on the fender opening, usually just taking the corner off at a 45 is enough to do it. It does depend on the backspace etc on the wheel but typically you can get away without much cutting at all.

The first arrow is pointing to the brace, make sure that's maxed out on it's adjustment first. Mine are modified but that was for 275/35/18's not the 225/60/15's I ran earlier (25.6" tall). The other arrow and dotted line show the corner modification.
