Radiator and cooling options

Are you talking about the "T" brackets in my pictures at the top of the thread? Those were in my car when I bought it. I have no idea where they would have come from. Could be that he got them from the same place he got the cross-flow radiator. There are upper and lower that were in the car. I have them sitting on the bench by the old radiator. I could take a picture of them.

Do you need them? I don't see when I would ever need them again, as I can't imagine me ever putting that cross flow radiator back in. I can take some measurements off them so you can see if they would work for you. If you want them, you can have them for the shipping price.

I could take a picture of them. THAT WOULD BE GREAT

Do you need them? I NEED SOMETHING those look like they would work if sized right

That would be AWESOME
I will measure my rad. to see what size I need.

Sounds good. I will try to take some pictures tonight, add measurements, and post them up here for you to see if they will work for you.

Here are pictures of the brackets you were asking about. They actually look home made. First pic is one of the top brackets. It bolted to the upper core support. Second pic is one of the lower brackets. They bolted vertically through the lower core support.

There was strips of weather stripping between the radiator and the core support, so the upper brackets just had to hold down on the radiator and pull it against the core support.

Thank you for taking the time to make up those detailed measurements. I don’t think those will be needed though. I had forgotten I ordered a top tank radiator (it’s been in a box for a few years) I had been sure I was gonna go with a cross flow prior to that.
Looks like a nice clean install on your car, glad it’s working well.

Thanks guys. Hoping it works as well when warm weather comes around again. It will be nice to be able to drive it without watching the temp gauge all the time.

Not to dig up a dead thread on ya but do you remember where you got that shroud from or what it was? Thanks

Hi Guys,

Wanted to check and see if I could get some suggestions on radiator and fan options. My Barracuda had an aftermarket radiator and cooling fan that just isn't cutting it. The main issue, I believe is that there is no shroud, so it isn't making full use of the radiator.

The car is a '67 Barracuda with a 400, 4spd manual trans. The radiator that was installed is 24" wide cross-flow radiator with a 19" core and a 15 fan centered on the core. My issue is that there is absolutely no space to move the fan back and put a shroud in, as the fan motor would hit the water pump pulley.

I talked to a contact at Cold Case radiators (member here) after seeing a lot of referrals to them. He said he agreed that a shroud would help, but the lack of room would be an issue. He also said the problem would be that dual 12" fans wouldn't work, and he didn't think dual 10" fans would move enough air.

Wondering what others on here have done to fit a good fan and shroud with a big block in one of these A-bodies. I'm open to buying a different radiator that is thinner to allow more room. I am also open to going back to a mechanical fan and shroud, but I have not seen a short enough fan clutch to work with my radiator, so would I have to go to the right length spacer and a flex fan (no fan clutch)?

Temps stay reasonably ok going down the road (somewhat!), but temps climb quickly if I have to stop, or get caught in slower traffic. It just isn't useable in temps higher than 80-85 degrees.

I will attach some pictures for you to see what I have going on:

Thanks!
67 Barracuda, 452 HP 340, 727
Griffin 2 row radiator, Mopar 18 in clutch fan, factory shroud, 160* hi flow T stat, stock water pump and pulleys.
Cools very well with factory A/C

The Contour fans is the only thing I have found that keeps my 499" cool.
