I have a 72 Scamp 318 with Federal P/S pump. Has had a leak- Got in to look closely before I ordered high pressure line- turn out it is the return line that is leaking. Is there anything special to P/S about this hose- or can I just use gas line hose I have?
thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with me again

Leaking in the middle or on the end? Doesn't really matter. NAPA has it by the foot. So does a fastener company in town.

Thanks- My question is, is it specific to power steering fluid or will the SAE 30R6KX gas line hose I have in cabinet work? Would save me a trip to parts store

This one will get a enthusiastic response. The right answer is to use the stuff that is specified. However I have used gas line for power steering returns and transmission lines for years in my youth with no adverse effects.

I have never compared the SAE specs to see it they are the same material.

Good question, I just purchased some hose that was imprinted "power steering" on it, but like everyone else, don't know if there exists any real difference from other 3/8" rubber hose.

Thanks to all -I'm just going to the parts store and pick up hose specific to P/S. this R6 fuel hose shouldn't be used with alcohol... plus date code is 06
Just trying to stay safe and not go out- and cheap of course...
Scamp just turned over 17K miles so wanna keep clean
First cruise is sunday

P/S fluid will soften up fuel hose over time
