since my heart attack I have been struggling to have any motivation to work on any of my projects. Have been considering selling a few of them ( I will probably never get to all of them ) my wife has had her heart set on an A108 camper we missed a few years back. I doubt we will ever find another like it. so she wanted the next best thing, an A108 window van.
Saturday we took a 10hr drive to get the trailer and end up in northern Minnesota.
Sunday we loaded this up and drove 9 hours home. I cant remember the last time I was as eager to work on a car. She wants to learn and work on it as much as possible. it will take some time but, It should be Fun!

Cool project!
Good to hear about your rekindled interest in cars.
How awesome is it to have your spouse involved and eager to learn and work on the van after all you've been through?
You hit a home run, man!
BTW, what year is the van and what engine etc. does it have in it?
What are the ultimate plans for the build?
Engine, paint, interior, etc..........

Glad to see you have a new project and that it has you and your wife motivated.
I can relate, I had a triple bypass, it will be 3 years this Sept. We both know as we age it all gets harder. But I have always felt, if we stop dreaming, we start dying. And it doesn't matter how old or young you are!!

its a 1969 318 auto, I have a little magnum 318 with about 8,000 miles on it I will re cam and put in it. we want to be able to drive it anywhere and use it for some camping. we are kind of digging the blue so it may get re sprayed the same blue at some point ( with a white roof to help keep the heat down ). it will get some form of fuel injection ( so she can drive it when ever she wants ). I will probably lower it 2-3" so it handles a little better and is easier for her to get into.

You have to to give the windshield washer nozzles a little tweak. Pedestrians Beware!
I didn't do it.
I'm not taking the water back.
I promise to never do it again.

Please keep that Carolina blue lol.... What's the details on it?

Oh wow my parents had one of these in the same color when I was very little. They drove it up from Trenton NJ through Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island on their honeymoon. I remember my dad taking me to kindergarten a few times in it before something happened and it got parked next to our barn. It sat there for years when I was growing up and got used as an army fort and club house... I think I even camped out in it a few times before my parents decided to move closer to town and it ended up getting towed off.

My dad has developed rapid onset alzheimer's which has been rough... but he still remembers the oddest things at times... I think I'm going to print your pictures out and show them to him next time I go up and see if I can stir up some long forgotten memories... that would be cool.

Thank you for sharing and best of luck - I can't wait to see it come together!

If the beer keg intake on your Magnum motor will fit under the doghouse, keep that for fuel injection. Scarebird, or somebody makes a disc brake kit for the front of those things. A friend of mine put the kit on an A100 truck, and it worked really well. Congrats on a great project.

its a fixer upper. the drivers side is caved in pretty good. I have a repair panel ( ordered the rust repair panels for the doglegs under the front doors and behind that )
a motor & trans are in the back. very clean underneath with only a few rusty spots. the rest wearing factory primer & overspray.

the guy we got it from bought it out of Wyoming and had it transported up. the drivers patch he gave me was out of Arizona and is the same blue ( what are the chances )

I had one similar to that back in my teenage years. I used it a lot to go surfing up & down the Gulf Coast of Texas. There were a bunch of us, probably 8-10 & we called ourselves the Texas Surf Riders Club.

Any idea how the driver side got caved like that between the two wheels? We used to have a bronze and white extended 1969 Dodge van like that that had two rows of seats in the back and when you open the side door this step pulled out from the side. I understand when you say you got some motivation back. I am getting a little fed up with the car I have and thought that I just try to get out of the hobby, but then I saw this neat old station wagon out in California and it has ignited something within me. I fall asleep with a smile on my face thinking about what to do with it.

not sure how they did it but, they did a damn good job! that side is pretty crushed in. still working on my plan of attack to pull it out before replacing that panel
