I can find no information on this car. Does anyone know where to get some literature on this car. Was it factory 4 speed? and if so what was the transmission type etc?

The engine/exhaust is highly modified from original. Seems to have original brakes. Am unsure of the owners claim to be a factory 4-sp. When /6 engines are modified, they do sound nice.

You're confusing Hurst with Hertz. Hurst (formerly Hurst/Campbell) was/is a supplier of aftermarket (and some OE) automotive equipment, and some specialty manufacturing/assembly (Hemi Darts/Barracudas, Chrysler 300Hs, etc.).
Hertz rents cars.

Your fender tag and/or build sheet will tell you if it’s a factory 4 speed. I can get you the number of slants factory equipped with the 833 later this afternoon when i get home

Hello all,
And Hurst had a much better spokesperson then Hertz.
Stay Safe......
Happy Mopar :)

Do you have a broadcast or build sheet that backs this up being a Hertz rent a car?
I had a '71 Duster 318 column auto with an 8 3/4'' 2:76 open ratio rear end in it.
It was an Avis rent a car, and on the bottom of the broadcast sheet it said Avis Sales in typed comments.
Nothing on the fender tag indicated that it was anything but a '71 318 column auto '71 Duster.
But, on the broadcast sheet, it was Y4 (sold car) and the Avis Sales remark at the bottom.
I'm sure it came with the 8 3/4'' rear end because it was a rent a car.
It was Lemon Twist with a black interior.
Most rent a cars are conservative packages with a bit of insight to how they are being used.......which is hard at times.
So, it makes sense that the '71 Duster 318 auto had an 8 3/4'' rear end in it.
It makes sense.

Yes I know the difference between Hurst and Hertz, but Hertz did contract with certain auto makers to have a limited amount of certain sports cars made for advertisement and rentals for their company. I can think of one such car was a 65 mustang in black with gold strips and a single seat roll cage. They made only 12 of that particular car. I assumed he was saying the same thing of this dart! Seeing he claims that it was one of 67 made!

Ok so they did offer a 4 speed for a slant six abody. I wonder why there were only 67 of this car made as he claims?

Most people who bought slant 6 Darts were either like my Dad (who went with the A904), or didn't want to spend more money for a manual (used to driving 3-on-the-tree and, since this was the economy engine, buy the cheaper version)...or didn't want a floor shifter (bench seats were great for dates...especially with a little armor all ;-))

I suspect the part of the market who wanted 4 speeds also went with the 273 or 273 Hi-Po

In 1965 the 225 was the only slant engine available with the 4 speed. A total of 1019 went out the door with the 4 speed. The Dart wagon and 270 Wagon had the least number with the 4 speed - 16 each; the sLant GT hardtop had the most - 659.

So Im looking for the needle in the hay stack?
