I just finished up installing a 10" 3000/3400 converter from A&A Transmission. ....

I have a transmission cooler I'm going to install, but is it OK to drive it a while - maybe 100 - 200 miles until I have time to install the cooler?
Not radical. ...just around town and some freeway miles...

Everyone says ya gotta have a cooler, but would I really overheat it just driving around a bit?

Jeff

As long as you aren't pulling the mountains all day, or racing all day, you'll be fine.

I removed the cooler on resto and still run a 3800 stall 9” converter. I do not drive daily and fluid and temp still look good from 2014 relaunch.

Awesome. ...that's what I was thinking too, just want to ask for piece of mind....
Come on Saturday morning! !!!!

If its running thru the radiator ------------

All of the above; it's the hard launches and getting on and off the gas a lot that raises temperatures.

Have you got a deeper pan? the extra fluid will help.

Also have you got a Tranny Temp gauge? Extra piece of mind, even with the cooler.

I have a deep pan but no gauge...

Should be fine, run it at or just below the add line on the stick. The fluid will get hot and expand and start pushing out places if you don’t. Stop and go trafffic will heat it up.
