I'm a pretty easy going guy, but one thing sure to get me riled up is mistreating animals. I was driving home from the girlfriend's house night before last on a 50 MPH road. It's getting a little dark but I can see something in the road of the oncoming lane. As I whiz by, I see it's not some kind of garbage, it looks like a cat! I flip a u-turn and come back. Another guy coming behind me has stopped also, and the kitten is under his car and scared to death. I manage to fish it out, its heart is going a mile a minute and it's shaking bad. There is nobody around and only one house even semi-nearby and they say they have no cats. So I take it home. Closer examination shows it bleeding from the nose and right eye, I'm thinking this may not end well. Luckily, it turns out it's from a small cut above the eye and the nose got skinned up. It was definitely dazed as it wasn't trying to get out of the road, it was just sitting there. Anyone coming the other way would have run it over for sure.

I could be charitable and say the cat just accidentally "fell" out of a car, but it couldn't have been at speed as there's not enough damage. I think someone slowed down, dropped the cat out of the window, and moved on. Moments later I come by to find the little guy. He is a charming creature, can't be more than 5 weeks old or so and runs maybe a pound at the most. He spent the first night mostly sleeping and resting, but perked up in the morning. I'm happy to report he appears unharmed by his migration to my house.

To the former owner, I say perhaps this was an accidental thing but best steer clear of me and my new cat. I had absolutely NO plans to add a critter to the household but he's just too nice to farm out to a new home. What kind of an asshole would dump a tiny kitten on the road instead of taking to the shelter if you can't care for it?

Anyway, this is Yoda, newest resident and getting along famously with my dog and other cat!

I agree I cannot stand people who mistreat animals. It’s pretty bad here in Oregon, I’ve lost count the number of animals I find dumped. Glad you saved the little kitten.

You know...for us being a bunch of “tough car guys”; we sure seem to be a bunch of softies!

Sometimes animals find their owners because, it was meant to be. It looks like you got yourself a loyal fluffy buddy and, I wish explosive, dog-barking, diarrhea on the previous owner(s).

Living out in eastern Colorado in farm country, we get this all the time. People just think because we have a farm we can just take on their unwanted critters.

Thanks for steppin' up. Geez there's been more than one animal right on this board rescued off the street!!

My dog that recently passed was dumped too thats how i got her. I was working on my car and Marshall was by my side as always and felt something licking my back, scared the crap out of me i jump up and see this sweet little girl. I asked all the neighbors they had never seen her and I live back in the boonies no way she wondered that far. I kept her couple weeks later I found out why they dumped her... she was pregnant. So we went from 2 dogs rocky (my inside dog) and Marshall to 11 in a couple weeks haha. We managed to rehome 5 of the puppies and we kept 3. Rubble passed away from illness back in November and Lucy got hit by a car a few weeks ago. Iv gotten so use to all these dogs it's kinda lonely only have 4 again lol. Poor marshall seems so sad since lucy passed he hasn't been the same since. I'm starting to worry about him he doesn't want to run around and play anymore he just lays on the porch and watches for her is so sad.

Good for you!! That cat will never forget what you did for it. My rescue cat was abandoned at a house next one of my coworkers. They asked to feed it and the bolted. He is my garage cat. No mice or chipmunks now!

I have 2 indoor cats as well. Both rescues. One just walked down our driveway one night when we were leaving. My son said he wanted a cat gor Christmas. There it was. They are the best of friends. That was 7 years ago

True motorheads are just good people! And an animal is just another friend!

Outdoor cats don’t last very long here. We have the urban coyotes that scoop them up and later bob cats come down from the hills to get their share.

Back in MissouriI used to have stray cats show up at the horse barn all the time then I moved fi=urther out in the sticks. I then needed some barn cats but they never found me!!!!!
The pound here won't even take cats.
We feed 11 barns cats right now, 3 come and go in the house. Anyone need a cat!? Yes all are neutered! You pay shipping!! Free local pickup!

i live rural and we have a lot of rural cats...a lot of cats!
Regularly people leave the village and dump their new kittens near a farm?

Beautiful cat.... Thanks for the effort and giving this guy a life. The human race is something. Been this way all along. Anyone who knows me will quickly tell you w

It's their best friend....

Never actually found one like that, but nearly all of our pets have been 'rescue' animals. Back when I was in college a kitten followed me in the door of my apartment when my hands were full. Couldnt kick the cute little bugger out. LOL
We have gotten several dogs from pet rescues over the years. Our current girl Holley is just a wonderful family member. Her and her siblings were found in a trash bag in Alabama. :mob:

Our last cat was Zoe.

Been gone about 5 years now. :( Was the runt of a litter a stray had on a friend front step. We brought her home and she let us share her house for 15 years.

We live in a somewhat rural area...lot of "pets' end up out here. Someone was recently at the boat dock just down the road from me, their pup wandered off. I don't think the dog ever turned up...but considering that I still hear some coyotes at night every now and then not to surprising.
