As everyone knows all info on the internet is 100% accurate, but just in case the one piece I am trying to find out thought I would ask and see if someone here knows for sure. My 69 Dart has a 72 360 installed, it had what looks like the solid Moroso mounts in it when I got it and some cheapo headers. I am going back to the rubber biscuit mount and some Dougs headers (not the Blues Brothers one) and engine seems low. TTI gives some dimensions to use but was curious if they are actually valid. centerline from top of K member is noted as 5 1/4, with tolerances I could handle a little off but mine is close to 5/8 - 3/4 off from that, I ordered the truck biscuits which might take care of my queery but is there a true spot I should be looking for or should I just make sure the fan doesn't hit and let it go? my headers hit the torsion bar on the driver side, I have no issue slamming it with a hammer and even after tonight raising or lowering and checking it isn't going to take care of the clearance so there will be wacking.

When I installed new TTI headers on my 68 Cuda I also put solid Moroso mounts on it and it was real close to what TTI said. I had to put one thin shim (About .075") under the drivers side mount to raise it so it cleared the PS box good. Before I ordered the TTI's I had a NIB set of Doug's I bought from a member here. The drivers side was made wrong and no way would it clear the torsion bar even after I beat the snot out of 2 tubes. Gave up on them, sold them at a big loss and ordered a set of TTI's. Went on easy peasy

install on headers was pretty easy, two tubes barely touch and as mentioned I will adjust them with a hammer and not look back LOL
will see what the thicker mounts do or recheck and possibly look at shims to get close to that 5 1/4 TTI lists.

I'd try the shims before using hammer surgery on the coated headers.

new mounts here tomorrow, pretty quick install to see where its at, will go from there.

This is big block placement a member was kind enough to send me. Since it is based off crankshaft center line, it should be the same for the small block.

I apologize, Bill. I posted this and then realized yours is a later A body. All of the above information is for an early car.

but the dimensions you have from what looks like TTi will apply, Summit has me covered, will know where I set less than 24, was more curious if the numbers applied, I have spent so much time wading through contradicting info about this car - makes you wonder if people are even looking or working on the same cars

Good. I didn't even notice that was for the later cars. Glad I did somethin right anyway. lol

Sometimes I think it's more of a issue with the cars not always being built exactly the same. They should be but I know from experience that I've seen quite a few little differences between the same parts. For instance the front leaf spring hangers on my car have the spring bolt hole drilled nearly 3/16" off from every other A-body hanger I've measured. All the others have measured the same but mine has the hole almost 3/16" higher which lowers the car slightly and changes the pinion angle a little

used the thin mounts with a shim, motor is off on the side to side dimension 1/4", little more effort to get the centerline to kmember measurement, I know its off but not going to worry to much about it, the 1/4" would clear me for my headers but don't see a quick easy way to just move the motor over to the passenger side yet

back and forth with several adjustments on mounts angles and anything else, per the "perfect numbers" mine is off, will live with it, the top of kmember to center of crank is off by about 3/4", gonna leave to keep that clearance for my hood and the airgap intake - the offset is 1/4" off, gonna hammer 3 tubes and move on, I felt like I had things pretty close on the side to side, 2 tubes were still barely touching and one tube was clear but no room for the motor to move at all without possibly hitting, 3 dents is a small effort, no one will even know unless I run over them and the see before they die LOL

I have spent an excessive amount of time here on the forums researching header installs - the minor issue I have is acceptable, would have been a little more painfull with the TTi's since they would have cost about 500 more, and since my dimensions aren't perfect they wouldn't have any sympathy for me. something else I now know about the car

$500 more??? My TTI's were $700 and Doug's were $600 at the time. Has TTI gone up that much? BTW: My TTI's fit perfect. I love the slip tube on #7. Sure made getting the drivers side header in easier. Until you try them don't assume their gonna fit just like others. I've learned that with numerous things, not just headers

with the discounts I got with the Dougs and free shipping I saved about 500, straight from the website on average day TTis around 150 more, not knocking the TTis, them and Dougs seem to be the top ones and comments both ways about either set

When I was looking at the headers I saw the slip tube for the TTis, never saw any negative comments about it but it did seem weird to me as I never seen it before, I can definitley see where it would make an install easier, especially if your working on the floor

Man you must have gotten a heck of a deal. I don't have the luxury of a rack so it did help having a slip tube and to be honest I was concerned at first that it might leak there but I've had them on for almost 8 yrs. and no leaks anywhere

damn - 8 years - impressive - you ever taken off and reinstalled?

these Dougs seem prety good, will report back in 2028 for a little comparison LOL - seems like the first set of headers I got were around 100 bucks, JC Whitney was the shopping source of choice back then also

I went ahead and used the gaskets that came with the headers which seemed ok, have a set of the remflex now that arrived a couple days later I will keep on the shelf - will see how those hold up.
