I have a 727 transmission in my 67 Dart and the Transmission Dipstick Tube Is leaking around the o ring. I tried a new o ring and I tried a fatter o ring and it still leaks. What should I use? Thanks

your tube brace maybe bent slightly and pulling the tube out a little or cocking it in the case and allowing fluid to drip or seep.

Yep. I had the same issue with 727 in our 1st 67 fish many years ago. The trans came from under a van so I went to a parts yard for car type tube and stick. Anyway... Let the tube stand straight/centered through the o ring, hold it there and work out the brace. I might have ended up with stud, nut, then brace , another nut.

Feel next to the tube there night be a threaded hole next to it for the tab style tubes. Seen that a few times on rebuilds. If so just put a bolt into it. Can drive you nuts.

I have seen the bottom of the dipstick tube bent, causing the o-ring not to sit in the groove correctly ,causing a leak .

Probably a bent or cracked tube. If you can't find a replacement, it might be RTV time. Everything needs to be REAL clean though. That's the tough part without draining the transmission. Jack up the passenger side as high as you can. Wipe down any oil residue and spray with carb cleaner to finish the job. Pull the tube and clean it the same way. Coat the tube and O-ring with some RTV of the proper type for oily surfaces, and reinstall. Add a bit more around the seam where the tube and case meet. Let dry and cure according to specs on the RTV tube. I like the black, but, there are others. and people have their favorites. Some just don't seem to hold up in oil sealing applications.
