My restoration project is a 65 /6 Barracuda. #1 I'm "hot rodding" the 225.(I have all the bells and whistles, headers, Offy intake, ect.) #2 8 3/4 L/S rear end. #3 My dilemma...I'm keeping the A/T, but have been unable to (and I've have looked...all I see is for newer stuff) find a torque converter. (Street/Strip) My Transmission is a A-904-G. I'm seeing the same responses for shift kits and shifters. (for newer stuff) I had planned on going through the transmission and installing a shift kit. I looked at "transbrake valves" but again I'm see application problems. My intentions are to drive the car, (limited) have a little bit of "street fun" and visit some local tracks. I'm sure someone out there has done the same thing. I've finished tying my sub frames and I'm ready to get after the drive train. Guidance please!

1962-74 Chrylser Automatic Transmission Codes website shows the A-904-G was used behind 1968-71 slants (170, 198 and 225).
I don't know /6 versions but I would think that internal components (valve bodies, shift kits, etc.) and torque converter fitment would be the same for both slant and V-8 versions.
I would think the same would go for shifters.
Isn't the only real difference in the bellhousing to mate up to the slant?
Again, I've never had a slant and don't know for sure. I'm certain others with more knowledge will also reply.

I think that contacting a company such as A & A would be able to answer the transmission questions for you. As far as the converter goes the attached PDF might be of help to you. Note the difference between the 1962-1967 and the 68 and newer converters. For a stall, there have been many mentions of good converter builders mentioned on this board. Give them the right information and they should be able to supply from their inventory, or re-do your converter to suit your needs. Avoid parts stores that resell converters. While they are good and have the experience in many facets of the Automotive industry, they lack the training and knowledge to get you what you want converter wise. JMHO

I’d join up here: Slant Six Forum if you haven’t already and see what some members we’ll versed in performance mods have to say. Might steer you to certain vendors who have done converters for upgraded slants and transmissions etc and save you time talking to the wrong ones, or not as up on slant stuff.

Thanks, forgot about that forum, been there before. Too many irons in the fire!
