I’m looking for someone who has the same setup to give me a measurement of their drive shaft. When measuring does the car need to be on the ground? Asking because it’s hard to crawl under if not jacked up on stands.

Small block

8 3/4 in stock position

Thanks

The way i measured was from the metal end on the transmisson tail shaft (not the rubber seal area) you measure out to the rearend pumpkin yoke flange flat end. This is how the drive-line shop had me measure. Also i was a cheap *** the shop told me i needed a new front U-JOINT but i was like ehh sounds like bullshit..... Now i have been have a Slighht Vibration at 45000 RPMs lol wish i would of payed the extra 10 bucks lol

U could jack it up and block up all the wheels the same heigth to get under it .

Here’s my question, the DS fits and goes in, however I’m not sure I have enough room between the rubber boot and the yoke. Any ideas or opinions of this looks normal?

That should be fine. I don’t use that long seal any more. You only need 3/4 inch of movement on the slip joint, unless you are going to motocross your car! The more spline engagement the better off you are. Until the slip yoke bottoms on the output shaft.

Okay. This is all new to me. The guy that rebuilt my transmission put that on. At first I thought I may need to have the DS cut. I think I may have enough room with that seal, I didn’t realize there was room between that seal and the rear of the transmission. Thanks!
