So I am a huge YouTube fan, I don't even have cable tv because I feel like I don't need that when I have infinite entertainment from YouTube lol.

So as usual I was watching videos about none other than CARS. ( I'm really into cars if you don't know lol) I stumbled on this video from "Sally's speed shop" its primarily about AMCs to include Hornets.

I know I have ticked off a lot of people with comments I have made about YouTube channels and I still stand by it because I feel if a YouTube poster is going to get my attention and valuable time, it better be some GOOD content. There are so many boring channels that are not worth the bandwidth and new ones pop up everyday and it's usually all the same.

Sally's speed shop gets my attention, superb content. I'm a closet AMC fan. I remember lots of PMs with Tony Fields about AMC cars. To watch this series is really a good time spent.

If you are into AMC products.... fully, partially, or even a little, then you might like it.

I love AMC cars. My favorite is the 390 Hurst SC Rambler. Badassary.

It might seem strange but I'm feeling like I really want an AMC 258.

I want to rebuild one and see how it compares and contrasts to our 225 slants

It will compare well, AS LONG AS you get an earlier, "less smogged up" one. The smog stuff really did those engines in badly.

Did you see the guys in the video are from Georgia. They bought the car from Colorado and came up here to get it.

His dad is so cool and I like his accent.

Sounds like a yankee compared to me. lol

AMC's are growing on me. Certain ones.... In fact, i showed my wife one and asked if she'd want it... she liked it, but asked where we'd park it. I guess I didn't think of that... :realcrazy:

Time for acreage.

I was bursting at the seams in my parents back yard to the point where I could barely drive back there without another car getting in the way.

Then I found the solution, I bought a three acre parcel and I haven't filled it up yet, so I better try harder. :D

You'd love the seven acres we have.

That's a lot of space, heck a bunch of cars can social distance from each other and then some.

That's assuming it's flat land that can actually be used.

Before I bought my area, i looked at a different 3 acre parcel, but that one had a good sized stream through it. I passed on that because i don't see anything good coming from the water. Flooding, weird animals coming and wanting a duster house, and the land occupied by the water is useless for cars.

Yup, it's not all completely flat but it's close.

One of my all time favorite race cars... Was at Laguna Seca in 1970 to see this race, was hooked afterwards...

I did a 258 back in the day...ported head, custom cam, pump gas ,it made 258 hp...way better than any /6 ever turned out...but the head tuned out very well..

Love AMXs, Hornets, and Javelins. Had an early 70's purple, Wild Plum, AMX, factory fiberglass hood, HP 360, and 727. Came with side pipes and traction bars. In the end, the Barracuda won out.

I test drove a 258 gremlin 3 speed manual back when I was going to school. Loved the torque, but didn't pull the trigger.

That was a super really well done video. Most YouTube posters just ether sort of produce or “I Just Winged It” quality video or there just having fun without care or concern... or so it seems.

Personally I’d love to learn how to get a great quality video done. However, I’d guess that is actually the easy part. The other half is how you show up on camera. Are you smooth like Dave Freiburger or this guy @ Sally’s?

Don’t get me wrong on this but Steve Dulcich is stiff and comes off like a stuttering dufus a lot.

Lastly is content. This guy has it right. IMO, it’s good enough for TV. Everything was really Freakin good. Clear & easy to understand, knows when and where to put the camera, shows very good stuff. While the big with pop and the ski trip break wasn’t car stuff, it did speak volumes of his character. Could I have done without that part? Perhaps, but it did like that addition (small & worthy) of the side track off car topic bit.

IMO, this guy gets Kudos.

Thanks for sharing that.

I admit I have always lusted somewhat for an AMC from back in the day, but I figured it would be way more of a challenge than I would want and I must have always wanted challenges, why else would I always have done Mopars!??? Of all the cars I have stumbled onto over the decades, I bet AMC's would total maybe 2 or 3!!! lol
Way back I had a chance at a surviving Studebaker Golden Hawk, maybe late 80's. Should have grabbed it. Was dirt cheap no doubt. There is something about the under dog!!
If a person honestly looks at the performance cars AMC built then, why would not anyone be impressed?
U Tube stuff would be great IF I was smart enough to run it on the TV and sit in my good chair!!

The later smog motors are just as good as the earlier motors. Just need to upgrade to the gm tbi and remove all the smog crap. My 258 really came to life once that carb and smog crap was removed. Definitely more power than any slant I ever drove and it's turning 35" tires.

My wifes toy, 2584-speed.
Nice driving summer vehicle.

My co-worker and his son both have AMC spirits, nice low milage cars, they took the 258's out.
One is running a 6.0 LS and his son has a 565 Dart big block chevy, they are super stiff chassis from the factory, and a first gen bronco rear end fits perfect.

How bout some Gremlin love?
They were just so different.
That made them pretty cool in my head.
Some friends of mine were going to trade school in Phx.
Randall AMC in Phx.
Randall was putting 401s in Gremlins.
Randall brings Gremlins to trade school for educational purposes.
Educational purposes turn to white knuckle test rides :steering:

Thanks for sharing! I love AMC too. Can’t wait to start restoring my wife’s 71 Javelin with a 360. It’s next in line after my 65 Valiant convertible.
