Saw these and shook my head. Yellow? Could you stomach reds on a flat black rat rod?

My mother told me long ago that one of her girlfriends in her youth, her father worked for Firestone I think it was. Would have been in the early 50s. Sometimes the girlfriend's car had blue Firestones, sometimes red, etc. depending on what Dad's crew was playing with at the time.

kinda like tires with colored smoke...it just looks queer to me

We had gangs marking territory with those colored stripe tires doing donuts.

I don't know they would probably look pretty good on a stingray with a banana seat and a sissy bar like the one I rode when I was 11

They'd get all scuffed up and look terrible.

At least with black tires, it's harder to see the scuffs........

I ran blue or red tires on my BMX bike circa 1982/83.

Rubber is naturally white.

Colors are easy.

Black is kinda hard.

As YY1 said, rubber products are most generally an off white. They add carbon black to the rubber recipes, and black products you have. I work in a Continental plant, used to be Goodyear. This poor girl on my shift works in the black and oil dept. They wear the white paper coveralls, and at the end of the shift you can hardly see any white on her.

My daughter just bought a yellow Jeep Wrangler. She LOVES it. I think I'll show her these tires. Who knows what she will do.

When I was a kid I had a beater old balloon tire bike--out of the garage attic---with two red tires. Then one blew, and I was down to one. No idea how old they were this was ?? the late 50's I guess, I was about 10-13 or so

Interesting information I found on the web about this manufacturer and black vs other colors.

“Double Star is Mr Chai Yongsen. It has been awarded honors by the Chinese government for environmental technology developments.

Originally a rubber company with a focus on footwear, within China it transitioned to tire development in 2002 through the acquisition of Chinese Green Tires and increased capacity after the acquisition of Dongfeng tires in 2005.

In 2011 they unveiled a new range of colored tires. Colored tires have long been a difficult item to produce well, as the carbon black that gives tires their color is actually an agent that gives tires longevity, it is difficult to develop tires with similar properties in colors other than black.”

A few of their other colors.

Yah I know, and totally agree with you, wish we could revert many things.

The way I see it, it is up to us and our children to make it happen.

American workers, business owners, and politicians have to all be pushing in the right direction, to have any chance. In general the entirety of the American population has or can have influence on things in one direction or the other. We have to vote for those who represent our interests, we also have to vote out those who do not. We have to be willing to buy American, even if it cost more. I could go on detailing what I theorize the reasons and solutions are, but I will stop myself because it would probably be more appropriately discussed on the political forum.

The only reason the products aren't made in the USA and here in Canada is simply economics. We demand high wages where in China, Taiwan etc the wages are a lot lower. So we have a choice, pay more for the product built here or pay less and have them build it for us. I'd pay more to have it built here and create more employment for us here. Hopefully their wages will increase so we can compete but I'm afraid it won't happen in my lifetime. Read the labels on everything you buy to see where it is made especially food products. Their quality control is way different than ours if any at all.

Even China doesn't produce what doesn't sell in the thousands. "Order now and we'll send you a second slop knocker for free. Just pay additional shipping charge". That's how they sell junk in high quantities.

Ask the EPA....and the Union who will be working the plant. If they can both agree on a plan that will make their price point Internationally competitive, there you go....wont happen.
