Heads for magnum

-
I’d like to make 550-600hp I had a 408sbf built For my dad and it made 615 on Engine dyno with 93/110 fuel mix I believe it was 12:1 compression with Victor jr heads So if I can get close to that it would be great for if not I guess I’ll go 440 for my duster

Sounds like a doable goal, I would refer to someone like @pittsburghracer for a combination. Also I know Mike a B3 is working on an engine he is hoping for close to 650HP out of. I could guess, but I would rather trust someone with experience for a good combination.

If you approach the SBM 408 the same as how that SBF 408 was done, you should easily end up within the 550-600hp window.

For similar $$$, if you went the BB route, you could have roughly another 100hp.

I’ve always wanted a 440 in the duster but everyone complains that there’s no room to work on anything

Then do a low deck stroker and have the room.

all the width is a problem with is changing the plugs
drill some holes for the socket extension through the fenderwells and be prepared to change some from below
small starter helps

I'm using a magnum block with trickflow heads.
Comp 1622-16 rockers also allow for pushrod oiling.
843-16 solid roller lifters that allow pushrod oiling ..
Works pretty well.
