I'm doing My first gasket match etc. following @318willrun (great tutorial)
When I align my intake gasket to one of the heads the bolt holes are misaligned by aprox. 1/8". So Im afraid that the intake manifold will not align with the ports when assembled.
Anyone run into this problem?
The gasket Lines up perfectly with the other head.

Is the gasket port hole higher or lower than the head port hole. Or is it slid to the left or right? IF the gasket sits higher, just raise the roof of the port in the head to match.

It is left right . So the port divider is in #2 and #6 port

so should I continue to match? I will have to do surgery on the IM. Definitely not on my performer RPM, Glad Im just using these for practice, although they have been shaved.

This might be a dumb question, but do both new gaskets in your set act the same way on that particular head? I was wondering if it may be that the bolt holes in that one gasket got stamped wrong.

Those bolts, they messed you up. They dont hold the gasket tight and allow it to spin, shift, drop ..etc...the rest is core shift and contrary to what 318willrums says...that's exactly why you make the divider thin, or have to. Think about it...

Use the plastic locators that come with the gaskets... tape the tops.... use a sharpie.

If you're doing many heads... buy a set with the locators...locate them and use spray paint to mist over them...then remove and port just to the paints edge.
It's not uncommon to razor the divider on the gasket down to 'about' the print seal line.
